£5 in the pocket, a day to pay day … it’s decision time… I could hang on, a day or two, then splash out on some meat from the Butcher and some fresh fruit and veg near by… Or I could head to BRB, get a bag of crisps, an apple, Bristol evening post and a a can of something alcoholic… the choice varies from week to week. usually I don’t hang on, and BRB can supply me with just what I am after. I think you know that you’re going to be paying a little more than you expect when you head into a mini supermarket like this, but then it provides you with a stangley warm feeling when you leave with your purchases… … is that a bit wierd? … Is it completley normal? Either way I think I can garantee you contentment from BRB, I know a big statement for such an average shop… but i’ll stand by it, that and my overuse of the 3 full stops pause in this review…(I couldn’t resist)

Stapleton road aint the first place I head to do my weekly shop, I have to admit. But when pushed, and there’s nothing in the fridge, I head down to BRB to stock up. A vaguely more enjoyable, and more local shopping experience. There’s a good range of English and Caribbean fresh and frozen food and groceries, including yams, plantains and jerk spices which you can’t readily find elsewhere. Everything you want and more — newspapers and a decent selection of beers, ciders and wines too. Just when you think you’ve reached the end of the shop, on it goes. There’s a cashpoint(that charges for withdrawals, boo) and even books, DVDs, cards and gifts. BRB = better than your average local shop.

This multi faceted supermarket offers a wide range of services to the local shopper. There’s a good range of English and Caribbean fresh and frozen food and groceries and I’m assured the best yams in town! They also stock hair and beauty products, household goods, pet food and toys, stationary, newspapers, magazines and cigarettes. The off license has some of the best prices around on beers and wines. There’s a cashpoint and a Victoria Mutual desk for money transfers and in the back is a wide range of books — fiction, educational and travel. There’s also a small selection of reggae CD’s and DVD’s and greeting cards. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 8am to 10pm and Sundays 8am to 4pm.
