A E Huggins

A.E. Huggins is a fine little store and I won’t have a bad word said against it.
True it may not have sliding doors, baskets for your things and its own designer carrier bags but it has charm. Oodles of it. The smiling fox charity bin outside for the RNIB sets the scene for the rest of the shop. The staff are the helpful, traditional staff one would expect of such an establishment. They keep their tidy little shop in order ²⁴⁄₇.
However it is their extensive range of tobaccos that really does it for me. I don’t smoke any more but to see a selection such as cherry, plum and apple tobacco is very tempting. Add to that a wide choice of cigars, pipes and papers and this shop has to be a first stop for any smoking connoisseur.

This is a lovely little news (and booze) agents, selling everything from penny sweets to milk to spirits and tobacco. The counter spreads all the way round the shop, behind which most of the store’s produce sits. This makes for an interactive dynamic between staff and customers, and the venue usually has a bright, chatty atmosphere. The staff are friendly and engaging and always willing to assist their customers. The shop also stocks various tit bits, such as balloons, glitter and the like, in addition to cards and gift wrap. Altogether, a friendlier and more intimate alternative to the nearby Sainsbury’s.
