Big improvement in recent months, I went in here as I noticed some BluRays in the window, and the owner really seems to have got his act in gear!
Lots of decent Artificial Eye, Eureka, and Arrow releases. Music to my eyes!

I love this shop. It’s been here for years and still brings back nostalgic memories of the old shabby bohemian Brighton.
Sells all the old cult classics (unfortunately not ‘Nuts in may’ which is very hard to get your hands on apparently) and I recently came in here to get ‘Rita Sue and Bob too’ which was not in store but has been ordered in for me at the lovely price of £6!
Cheap as chips and very cheerful. Big thumbs up!

This really is the best shop in Brighton for cult movies on dvd and Blu-​ray. The guy who runs this shop is awesome and really knows his stuff. I’ve managed to pick up a few cool horror, sci-​fi and monster movie classics at good prices. Highly recommended!

This is a cool and cheap DVD shop at the back end of the North Laine.
Whilst they will have a fair range of generic movies that all 2^nd hand stores seem to stock, there is also a decent World cinema and retro selection of cult films. Well this is Brighton after all. I picked up a copy of spirited away, run Lola run and tideland for £15. A total bargain!!!
It’s the kind of shop that is worth investing time leafing through the shelves of cases as there can definitely be a gem hidden away. The shop is a bit small, but you will still have space to spend some time searching most days.
Well worth a look and prices are about he same as renting a movie anyhow, so you may as well try here first and get to keep it.

You know what? one can order films off the internet but I’d rather go to Timeslip, why? because not only has this shop got a brilliant ready selection of classic films from cult British to World cinema, the guy that owns the shop is one of the nicest people to talk to about films, he is passionate about it, and (as far as i’m concerned) has great taste in movies, he’s friendly (and cool), and makes buying a film dvd an experience. If you’re in Brighton you’ve got to check out Timeslip.

This is quite the decent DVD shop. In my search to find Maurice Pialat’s «Sous Le Soleil de Satan», I have begun to stop by each and every single DVD store I come across. And although I can’t find this film (it’s a Masters of Cinema release, and I’m not sure if shops readily carry MoC distributed films), this gives me a chance to kill time by slowly walking through a DVD store and flipping through everything they have in stock.
Their foreign film section is quite good, and I saw a few of the popular releases from South Korea, China and Japan. There were the films of Fassbinder, Godard, Truffaut, and they sold a few of the classics from Independent American film. It’s a great place to browse around if you want to add to your DVD collection. There are a few rarities too, so check it out.

Timeslip does what it says on the tin — it sells quality old films made in an era when story mattered. Not to get into Raging Bulls, Easy Rider mode here but all your cult films are found in here, from Bullitt to Planet of The Apes, Enter The Dragon etc and all at competitive prices.

This is an excellent shop with a great range of cult and classic films and the price mark on them is good with and a cheapo range of 4 for 12. Any one with good taste in films is going to find something to take home and cherish. Everytime you turn around there is a film from your past which fills you full of nostalgia, i. e singing ringing tree, belle and sebastien, flashing blade, double deckers etc. too many to
has a world cinema section –cult classic british films section-​great sci-​fi section as well .I would throughly recommend this shop to anyone who knows about films or wants to start to know about the foundation of films 5star+. the owner is very helpful and has a good knowledge of films and when he does’t know will go out of his way to find the film you are looking for. This is a good little independent shop selling dvds– it’s good in the sense that it’s independent and it sells dvds cheaply– ‘Buy 3 for £15′ often. It is also very random! I don’t know who picks the stock but their shelves look like our dvd bookshelf at home– with my collection of happy go lucky American films and my boyfriend’s collection of cerebral art films. This is only a small shop but it has a truly eccentric array of classic British and American films, mainstream contemporary films, World Cinema and even erotic films. You never really know what you might find– you can probably count on finding some blockbusters but not necessarily! And you may find a truly rare dvd amongst their classics or art films. I bought up Woody Allen films with some P. T Anderson’s and boyfriend grabbed some of the rarer Ingmar Bergmans.

Timeslip is one of those friendly, independent stores that can be such a joy just to hang about in. Inside there’s a large selection of retro DVDs and VHS films, including a really good British Cinema section, which is perfect for anyone studying media studies, or a similar course, at one of the local Universities. Prices are ok, but it is best to buy films here in bulk. Most items are available either 3 for £15, or 3 for £22.

Aaaaaaah the joy of cinema. Isn’t it great that in this age of technical wonderment we can watch our favourite Hollywood stars in the comfort of our own homes? I love this idea and have an impressive DVD collection as a result. It might be something to do with being a control freak that attracts me. The ability to pause, rewind, or slow down the action in films, but I cannot get enough of the home-​cinema experience.
Now over to the review…
Timeslip is not the technical name for when Dr Who falls over whilst teleporting (or whatever it is he does in that bleedin’ Tardis), but rather a DVD store in the North Laines. The selection here is pretty vast and pretty colourful. You can get your standard Hollywood features, but also foreign-​language and some niche gems. I would recommend anyone to have a look, because there are some great finds here: all at reasonable prices. DVDs might be on their way out, but they still offer good picture and sound quality and are often cheaper than going to the cinema if you’re on a budget. Also, you get to keep them; watch them over again and have the nice packaging decorate your shelf. Beat that!
