Recently revamped bar with Laine’s beer fresh beer system. Nice open fire but they need to keep a tabs on cleanliness– beer glasses are often not clean!

If you’re looking for a pint with your mates and some typical pub grub on London Road — this is your place. The World’s End is bigger than it seems, has a great selection of board games and a pool table, a beer garden and really nice staff. I’ve been here for many nights of pool, scrabble and whatever board game my friends and I can find, and have always had a really good time. I tried the food for the first time on Tuesday and had a jerk chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato — minus the mayo due to my silly allergies, which they were really understanding about. My friend had a pulled pork sandwich, which she assured me was really tasty — it certainly looked it. And together we shared a bowl of chips. The sandwiches were about £5.65 each and the chips were around £2.

Fantastic food, a really warm atmosphere and friendly staff. I came for lunch and ordered the pulled pork and sides of guacamole and green rice with beans and really can’t complain! Meat was tender and clearly slow cooked, house sauce compliments it but you don’t even need it imo! Definitely recommend to all meat lovers out there.

Amazing BBQ selection. Lots of beers and lagers. Staff really friendly. If you haven’t been here for a while, give it try. The brisket melts in the mouth as does the pulled pork. Beware the links if you don’t like really hot spicy food. Will be back for more

Like other folk I use to walk past it a lot without ever going in, thinking it was just a pub for students, or drunk angry loners, happily i was wrong on both counts. The food is excellent with great reviews from the national press to boot. I had one of their many choice of burgers which came with fries and large salad, for around 9 quid, and this is a proper burger, like the ones’s you get in the States. Friends had the mixed meat which came with fries, salad and onion rings. The only complaint is that they only had bbq sauce as a condiment, this may be down to the fact that the lad who brought our food out didn’t seem to know what was going on, and did seem slightly dim, all be it in a slightly charming way, but surely they must have ketchup to go with said fries ? Drink selection isn’t the best, but i would only come here for the food.

I think this pub is a great hole in the wall that people may overlook when they walk along London Road. When you get inside, the atmosphere is relaxed and there is plenty of space. The best thing about this pub is the food which I believe is quite comparable to Texan BBQ houses in the states. You can’t go wrong with the ribs, burgers, sandwiches, chili, and pretty much everything on the BBQ Shack’s menu. My only complaint is the size of the napkins that they give you! I always need a wet wipe after for my face and hands!

I went to this pub with a couple friends and my new English friends to grab some more drinks and to hang out. However, the experience at this pub was probably less than mediocre, and my rating is probably less than 3 Stars out of 5, but more than 2 Stars. My friend and I decided to get a couple pints of Cheddar Valley Cider. That was a big mistake. We both thought it tasted horrible. It was really bitter and bland, with a slight sourness, and definitely lacked refreshment and flavour. The appearance is deceiving as well. The reddish orange colour made the drink look possibly like a guava fruit juice rather than a cider. One of the Englishmen in our party was a little confused on why the drinks were horrible. He took a few sips, and said, «Not a bad cider.» Although the Englishman liked the cider and the sign on the tap said«For Real Cider Drinkers!», I probably would not drink that cider again. I tried to order some food to make my cider drinkable, and it was not great either. A Full House Pizza, which was £4.50, consisted of mushrooms, and some spiced sausages. The meats were okay, but the from the texture and the chewiness of the pizza, it appears that they probably used frozen pizza and threw in some small additional toppings to try to make it tastier. Service was not too good, thought the staff was the least friendly out of the pubs I have been to in Brighton. I liked the atmosphere and the interior. They have plenty of entertainment options, such as a Pac-Man arcade game in one corner and a decent selection of board games. A few of my friends played Scrabble. Overall, this is probably one of the least great pubs I have visited in Brighton so far. I probably would not recommend coming to this pub for the food, or getting the Cheddar Valley Cider, but the atmosphere and interior is nice, and it also has some good entertainment options.

We often come here for the quiz on Thursdays. The Quizmaster is an old-school kind of fellow and doesn’t like having to repeat himself. He’d have you out on your ear if he thought you were using a mobile phone — it’s almost like he can’t tolerate young people at all, or at least not young drunk people, but this all adds to the fun. Plus you know he loves it really, and his questions are better than many quizzes that are picked straight from the book. The pub itself is large and deep, with tables, stools, and even beanbags, selling a good variety of lager and locally brewed ale at cheaper, London Road prices. They also do live music on certain nights. Hardly the nicest pub in the area but does the job.

The World’s End is a perfectly nice pub, if a bit naff. There seems to be an ongoing theme of style over substance: all the different pub games do not necessarily a nice pub make! It’s often crowded, with not enough space to sit or relax, and the average evening here is often spent grunting at other heavy drinkers over having a nice time. Still, the pub quiz is good… It’s just not that nice here: the smoking garden is on the road out back, and seems more of a collection of tables in a concrete jungle than a pleasant place to sit and relax. Inside, it’s much the same: a lot of people perched around small tables, and a lot of people standing around looking awkward: just a little unpleasant and not really that nice. Still, they do have all the pub games, including a great quiz, and this is the pub I go to if I fancy a quiz or a game of pool. That’s all I recommend it for really, otherwise it’s just not that great.

This is one of the few pubs on London road and as such is extremely popular with locals. Worlds End is very rustic inside, everything is wooden furnished; from the floors to tables and chairs. They also have a number of sofas inside, as well as a clutch of bean bags, although you’ll have to fight hard to claim either of these. The drinks are pretty much as you’d expect, although regular ‘happy hours’ mean that you can get some very good offers. One of the big sources of popularity at Worlds End is the live music and events that take place. They regularly have up and coming bands performing, as well as DJ sets and weekly cash poker games. The staff are relaxed and friendly, as are the customers. This is a ‘chilled out’ pub where most people should easily be able to enjoy themselves.

The Worlds End is one of the better pubs in the London Road area, offering regular live music and DJs with a friendly clientele. That said its quite soulless when compared to high the standard of pubs that Brighton has to offer, with a kind of mismatched décor including a huge Buddha in the middle of relative traditional looking pub. They have an arrays of event from hips hop and D&B to live indie band so its worth checking out for that. Due to its location it does attract some weirdo’s but the pub itself is definitely the best of a bad bunch

I was in here only last night watching a friend play some highly enjoyable live music and realised that actually, this place is pretty cool. Inside you’ll find a smattering of mismatched furniture(including a pair of high-backed mustard-yellow armchairs classy or what?), a couple of slightly unnerving mannequins, a taxidermied crow, a pool table, stacked up bookshelves and a pile of board games. Drunken Scrabble is highly entertaining… except when you have the ‘Q’ and your mate has nicked all the ‘U’s. Then it gets a bit messy. The best, best, BEST thing about The World’s End though? As a pub that’s usually packed out with drunken ‘yoofs’ and students, rather than fighting the inevitable graffiti-in-the-loos tradition with endless new coats of paint, they’ve wholeheartedly embraced it. All the toilet cubicles are all painted with chalkboard paint and above each cistern you’ll find a basket containing an array of multicoloured chalks. Being a good girl, I’d never written on a toilet wall until last night. I found it satisfyingly rebellious. Despite hearing some immensely mixed reviews, I’ve always had a cracking night out when I’ve come here. It’s a loud, buzzy, shabby, studenty-type place that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything else.

As testified by the mixed reviews here, this is one of Brighton’s many hit and miss places. It’s good for those who just fancy a pint with no frills. It’s fairly cheap and it does the job, albeit basically. For me it’s a strange place because on the two occasions I’ve visited I’ve had quite contrasting experiences. The first time I went to make use of Monday night’s free pool deal and had a fine time. However, the second visit included such wonderful treats as a vomiting chav girl, a near-fight and a bizarre and slightly intimidating conversation with a Polish security guard. Such is Friday night though hey! Anyway, in my opinion, this is just another pub: nothing special, nothing amazing.

The World’s End doesn’t always get the best press with locals, but I feel this is undeserved. It is certainly not somewhere to come looking for quality food or a historic atmosphere, but sometimes, I don’t want either. What it does provide is a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere with cheap drinks, pool, sky sports and a mixed clientele providing a good opportunity for some people watching and an escape from the relentless ‘Brightonness’ of some places. If you’re looking for a good value pub for a relaxed pint this is not a bad choice. They also put on regular music nights here from various local promoters — I visited for a Slackers Convention day/night event, which transformed the front of the pub into a packed dancefloor, with barbeque food available at the back.

The Worlds End can be found at the top of the London Road slum, not my fave part of Brighton. That said the Worlds End is probably the only pub I would venture into on that street. Its has a large interior with a Wetherspoons-esque décor with a humongous Budda at foot of the stairs. The crowd varies from local students to families, they have regular DJs and live music. I saw an amusing local hip hop act preform, hahaha. They have covered outside seating at the front of the establishment and tables out the back for the warmer months. If you’re in the area and desp for drink then the world End will do but it not worth missioning out f town for.

Nope. No thanks. No sirree! You won’t find me in this pub ever again. There are many lovely pubs in this area, but the World’s End is NOT one of them! If you’re looking for a pub with character, nice food and a buzzing atmosphere, try the Open House of the Druids Arms. Do not, I repeat DONOT expect to find these things at the World’s End! It’s big, not particularly friendly and has a dubious, and quite frankly lecherous group of resident locals that hang around smoking outside. If ever I walk past on a weekend evening I am always subjected to jeering. Apparently they now do music nights(obviously trying to attract the local student population) but the current clientele are enough to put me off giving the place a second shot, unfortunately! What you will find that might appeal is inexpensive drinks and lots of big-screen football…

If this is what the end of the world looks like it would suggest that the Apocalypse will be caused by a great storm. I apologise if this is a bit of a heavy theme to get started on when reviewing a pub, but if you look at the mish mash of statues, decoration, paintings as well as Sky Sports, Pub quizzes, film nights etc etc… one can only think that all of these elements came to rest in one place after a tornado hit the London Road. Im assuming that bad taste is a theme of the pub, but if its not well it should be. Bad taste may be a bit harsh as the pub actually isn’t a bad place to go, but just weird really, with Buddha statues and quiz machines sitting opposite each other awkwardly. Quiz nights on thursdays is a huge draw especially with the student population from Brighton and Sussex universities and with big prizes to be won, and a quizmaster bordering on the insane its a really good night. Happy hour before 10pm means that pints of standard lagers and ciders such as fosters and strongbow can be brought for around £2, so well worth a visit if your a student or just generally hovering on the bread line. Weird but can be a laugh if your in groups and you bring your own atmosphere.

This is a great London Road pub which boasts a wide clientale of students and locals alike. I prefer it to the nearby Hare and Hounds as it’s large and good for groups, but still feels pubby and intimate. There’s loads going on, with a book case and cosy sofas in one corner, and pool tables in another. You’ll even find a big selection of board games, and they have quiz nights and live music as well as other events through the week. They have a big screen which’ll show the sports, but they also do classic movie nights. It’s not bad priced for a Brighton pub either, and they do real ale and good cider as well as food. This and the Cobbler’s Thumb are my favourite pubs in the area. Although it’s busy on quiz nights, it’s great for an early evening drink with a friend before catching a film at the nearby Duke of Yorks.

It is simply enormous. This pub has been transformed by the current landlord into an inviting pub with good food and a lively atmosphere when ever you go in. Look out for the live band nights promoting the up and coming talent from Brightons musical institutions. Has a fair selection of ales as well as the usual lager suspects. Throughout the pub there are large TV screens which show sport /films depending on the night of the week. There are also pool tables.
