I’ve been to the guys at the Vault a few times for all of my Ektar and Portra type film. I really like the work they do and they all seem to genuinely care about developing and analog photography as a whole. I usually just my 35 mm developed and put on CD. The supplied size is 1,800×1,200px at 72 DPi which is a pretty good size for what I do. If I do want it larger, I’ll just pop in for a rescan. They usually do such a good job and I’ve only had one instance where some of my CD images came out a bit weird. In that instance, they profusely apologized and then re-scanned it for me when I was back in the area. Also, they’re really great for scan and devs of 120 film too!

From art on concrete to art on walls… Tucked away on a side street in Kemp Town, The Vault is a fantastic imaging house that produces high quality photographic and fine art prints. They offer limited edition, giclee prints and photographic prints on canvases and light boxes. A couple of years ago, the design company I work for needed 20 architectural prints blown up and mounted on aluminium for a client and although the job was pricey, the customer service and final work was perfect. I haven’t seen any examples but believe they’ve recently branched out into high quality frames and photo books for artists too.

The Vault is a great little printing shop, specialising in photo printing and framing. It is a little on the pricey side, and probably isn’t the best place to go for bulk orders. However, the amount of different services they offer on individual prints is amazing: so if you’re looking to get an individual piece printed, framed and looking gorgeous, this is a good place to go. If you have a bulk order, I doubt you’d even consider The Vault: from the outside, is doesn’t really look like the kind of place that could handle thousands of copies of various bits and pieces. It’s set up to showcase all of the photographic art and prints they’ve done before, and the pieces all look excellent, really good quality and clearly digitally touched up to look just right. This is clearly what The Vault focus on, and their ability here seems great: all of the prints on display are to a very high standard. However, this limits The Vault in what it can offer. If you’re looking to have one piece done well, The Vault may be a good place to go: however, the prices seem rather excessively high for this sort of service, and there are plenty of cheaper, qualitative printers in the North Laine… Still, if you’ve had great service in The Vault, don’t not go: it’s great service, great quality, just a little pricey.

I use The Vault loads, they are a great professional service and about as good as it gets for finish in Brighton. As well as developing and processing they also offer different mounting finishes, many different printing techniques and in house digital touch ups. They aren’t that cheap, but they will offer you deals and there maybe different ways of acheiving certain ideas that are cheaper.

I use these guys when I need some film processed as they do such a fantastic job(especially on medium format). They’re not especially cheap but then the quality is leagues above Jessops or Snappy Snaps. They also do a fantastic framing and mounting service. I recently had a nice black and white print mounted on some MDF(about 10×8) and it only cost around £25. Their photo books are amazing and surprisingly cheap. They’re a lot classier than Photobox. There’s an amazing shot of a British Bulldog as you walk in on the left and that’s my friends(the dog)! His name is George.
