Pop in Shop seems to be aimed at the drunken streams of night-time West Street goers, than being at all concerned with providing more useful convenience goods. My boyfriend used to live on this street(alas, no more), and we really couldn’t ever find much here. It’s steep too as they clearly can get away with it, holding a really prime spot here as the only convenience store on West Street(though you will find others along the sea front, on North Street or towards Churchill Square). Prime items are pick n mix, more sweets, alcohol, nuts, crisps, snacks, and some manky looking sandwiches. I’ve been caught out a few times trying to by cinema snacks here when heading to Odeon — a fiver goes on a bag of sweets and some nuts.

Pop In Shop is really only good for two things: alcohol and snacks. They have a very good snack selection, including pick n’ mix, and ice cream, a good range of wines and spirits, and a large number of fridges filled with a variety of different beers. Other than that though, there isn’t much to purchase here. The newspaper and magazine section is absolutely tiny, and there aren’t any sandwiches, or really any convenience items.
