DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANTUNLESSYOUWANTFOODPOISONING. This used to be my favourite Indian restaurant in Brighton and Hove — not any more. I will never go there again. The quality of food has worsened markedly, as have the taste, waiting times and service. I think the chef must have changed recently. Thanks for giving me food poisoning on my wedding night Pavel. You’ve lost a loyal customer. Please read my Trip Advisor review for more detail.

Probably my favourite Indian restaurant in Brighton, hence why I chose it for my birthday meal last night. Friendly staff, great food, and a great feel to this cozy little curry house. Not the cheapest place you will go to, but the food is tremendous. A big range of curries available from chicken, to lamb to prawns. Beer and spirits available too, even got a complimentary round thrown in as if was my birthday. I first had it as a delivery, then found out it was a restaurant, so the options are always there to eat at home. Highly recommend it of you fancy a decent curry in town

Can across this place a couple of years ago now, but oh my gosh! This is the best Indian ive tasted. This is no joke. Everything on the menu is fabulous. You can not go wrong with what ever you order. The prices are very good too. Although not a large restaurant you don’t feel like your on top of everyone. Always go when I visit brighton I love it.

Sehr emphehlenswert! Keine(!) Touristenabzocke!

This is by far the best Indian restaurant on St. James street, but as others have mentioned you do pay for it. As I don’t eat curry religiously every weekend, I don’t mind paying the extra to have a really nice one once in a while. The curries are exquisite, and the service is also very good. There is a large selection on the menu, and I have tried a few of them. The Kormas tend to be a bit too sweet, but the Madras is delicious, especially the Tandoori King Prawn Madras… I strongly recommend that when you want to treat yourself! The wallpaper is a bit on the wild side, but the restaurant is clean and comfortable with a great vibe of regulars and newcomers. I look forward to my next meal!

My favorite curry restaurant of all time, and I have eaten in many good places including eateries in Brick Lane. Really tasty, fresh cuisine and very good vfm. The staff are welcoming and attentive but not intrusive and they acknowledge regulars with friendly conversation. The venue is clean, contemporary and comfortable. There are nice touches such as the offer of a drink on the house at the end of the meal and a bespoke chocolate accompanies the bill. I have ordered for home delivery many times and the high standard of food remains constant. On my regular visits to Pavel, I love over-ordering, so when I can no longer move having eaten to capacity, a doggy bag is prepared by the staff for taking away my next day’s lunch! Yum.

My partner and I love Pavel and dine there often. The food is always spot-on, fresh and very tasty. All the staff are really friendly and welcome us like friends. We’ve taken many of our friends here and they have all been equally impressed. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have such a great restuarant in our home city.

OMG this is the best indian I’ve ever had, from start to finish delicious. Although they don’t have a lot of seating, good things come in small packages. I have friends who own and run an Indian restaurant and beat there’s hands down. I would have to say the best I’ve ever had I can see me making trips to Brighton just to have an indian at Pavel too. Why are they not in the tourist info of Brighton better than any other eatery, chilli pickle is different but this is better by far, no contest. A must if coming to Brighton. Would ring to book but if your happy to take pot luck and have a drink in a nearby pub/bar until they are ready. Sorry my pictures not that great only on a camera phone.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place on a day trip to Brighton a some time ago. We love it so much, we take a trip and overnight hotel stay to Brighton every few months just to go to Pavel! Excellent, delicious food, staff incredibly polite and friendly, we live in an area surrounded by curry houses but this beats them hands down! The manager is a great chap and welcomes us like old friends when we visit– we only wish it was nearer to where we live so we could go more often! Sofie and Luke, Surrey.

I was actually really impressed by this place, which is dearer than some Indian restaurant in Brighton, but in return offers a chic décor, excellent service and whoppin portions. They also gave us free Bailey’s afterwards last time I went. I wonder how this place will do, seeing as Gordon Ramsay-famed Love’s used to be here and shut down due to lack of business. And amazing restaurant Here over the road only shut down a few weeks ago… But well worth supporting and(along with Thai Sawadee) one of the better restaurants along St James’ Street,

Pavel has some pretty tough competition on St. James street and it fairs well enough. Don’t expect a budget priced curry and your main and sundries can push the bill over a £10 per person(that is if you are feeling greedy and go for one of their house specials. They also only offer 1 meal deal, but although it is for 2 people, you could easily feed 1 or 2 more with what you get. The quality was okay, but I have tasted better elsewhere in the city. Worth a go for a change, but you can find cheaper curries elsewhere.

My food interests come in phases. For the past month, I’ve had a daily diet consisting of fish, chips, fish & chips, and then an occasional burger just to add variety. But seeing as how I’m living in an area that offers me plenty of choices, I decided to mix it up and go for a week with just Indian cuisine. Pavel is an Indian takeaway restaurant that’s open from 5:30pm — 11:30pm. They have a large menu, and you have your pick of Tandoori dishes, curry dishes, balti dishes, and others. The portions are large, and you’re looking at spending £5.00 — £10.00 for single items. It’s a bit pricier than other places I’ve been to, but the hefty proportions(combined with the quality taste) make it worth it to spend a little extra.
