I really like this funky little shop in the heart of the North Laines. It has something for most palettes, although some will find it a little too quirky! It’s definitely for the young, and young at heart. I have to be careful coming in here, because I will normally see at least one item I covet… And, as another bonus, I haven’t once seen someone else wearing an item I’ve bought there! Just a small critical note –it’s often worth checking the seams and buttons — perhaps they come loose during the frenzy at sale time! All in all, a very Brighton boutique, without Brighton boutique prices.

This is a relatively good independent woman’s fashion shop in the middle of Brighton’s North Lanes. I only came here by chance, desparate to find some kind of present for my house mate. After much searching elsewhere, Lulu Rose was among my last options. Thankfully I managed to source a bag that was in the sale, reduced for £35 down to £16. There were perhaps half a dozen items that I considered buying, which is certainly better than the previous shops I had tried. Some of the clothes were a bit average, looking like Top Shop inspired items from 3 months previous. Still, I was able to find a good quality bag for a cheaper price than I would have expected.

The best thing, without a doubt, about Lulu Rose is their range of handbags. Dominating three walls of the store and adorned in various flowers, sequins and buckles, these bags might look designer but their prices definitely aren’t. At around £30-£40 and in a variety of different colours, they obviously aren’t genuine leather, but they look like they’re great quality and are so stylish. You’re more or less guaranteed to find one to go with every outfit. In fact, most of the stuff in here has a bit of a designer feel to it and all looks as though it should be far more expensive than it actually is. Their sales are even better — with original-looking, cute, lacey, dresses for about £20 and some of their bags marked down to £15. Absolutely bargainous! Most definitely worth a visit for any fashion-conscious Brightonian.

Lulu Rose specialises in women’s fashion and is kind enough to split their sales items amongst various racks, so it’s not quite so obvious when… ahem…someone is shopping on a budget. Clothing ranged from casual sweaters and tops to dresses and night-out ensembles. The selection of accessories was vast — hair ties, metal jewellery, reasonably priced scarves and hats and bags. Oooh, the bags. Small purses to enormous handbags — I don’t know what women put in there. But, anyway, Lulu Rose has styles and prices of bags to fit every shopper.

I don’t really shop here too often, probably for the same reasons as Sophie W. — the stock is fresh and fun but seems aimed at 14−18s. Saying that, I can find the odd thing here and as a small independent boutique you’ll find some more unique takes on current fashions. They sell mainly clothes, but also a big stock of bags as well as shoes and winter woolies. There’s also a good range of styles with cosy knits, cutesy florals and more blingy party outfits. The shoes are worth a look, with some sweet and simple pumps. Overall not my favourite, but a shop adding further variety to the North Laine area, and a great place to pop by if you’re xmas shopping for a daughter or little sis.

Lulu Rose is Yoma’s sister shop located in Kensington Gardens. Whereas Yoma is marketed at women in their twenties and thirties, Lulu Rose is aimed at a younger demographic. The shop is packed with vibrant, youthful clothing and many of the same bags and accessories you’ll find at Yoma. This store is much larger than Yoma and can get quite crowded with teenagers at the weekend. The selection of stock is impressive– it doesn’t particularly wow me, but I’m probably 10 years older than their average customer!(wow, that’s depressing…) The bag selection is great and very up-to-the minute with lots of tote bags and holdalls. I distinctly remember Lulu Rose being one of the first places I saw metallic bags and purses(before they were everywhere), so it’s probably a good place to go if you want to jump on board with the latest fashion and accessory trends. In the past I have always thought the clothing was kind off the mark, but lately I’ve seen a couple of good old body-con dresses(who isn’t selling them, seriously, they’re everywhere?!) and some pretty cardigans in the window. I prefer Lulu Rose to Yoma, because I don’t feel its masquerading as something more upmarket… what you see is what you get.
