Launderette & Dry Cleaners

At various points when I was living in the Lewes road area I went through periods of having no washing machine in our house. At such times this was always my port of call.
They have a number of ‘regular’ and extra large sized washers and prices are reasonable. A wash will take about 1 hour in these machines and they will lock when in use, so you can leave your clothes safely if you don’t want to wait. The shop won’t always be staffed, but when it is they offer a washing, drying and ironing service if you want to pay a bit extra.
The dryers will fit a lot into them and you can feed them 20p at a time if you don’t want to pay for too much drying time. Be warned that they do not have a lock for obvious reasons, so you will want to stay in the shop for the cycle. The shop is pretty basic, but functional. Don’t expect tea, coffee or a TV but if you bring a book there are enough laces to perch and wait out the wash.
No frills, but then again it’s a launderette — what would you expect!

Good little Launderette’s here, I must say.
The place isn’t too expensive, and the people who work here are relaxed and friendly.
I also think that the depressingly washed and faded 80s colours of the launderette is actually in its own way… well…interesting. If your a photographer or into your photography, ithink you could definitely take some good Martin Parr-​esqu pictures in here.

This launderette is a life saver on the odd occasion when I really need to have clothes ready for the evening but have too much on in the day to get it done. I once had a valentines meal and forgot to get a new shirt, my best ones were all dirty so I checked this place out. After having a look I thought I might as well get all my stuff done for me.
Most launderettes in the area do work to a high standard but I did have a good laugh with the employees and built up a good rappor immediately. It sounds silly but if you get a good experience in these sorts of places you are much more likely just to pop in again even if it isn’t overly urgent.
Open most days of the and with machines always free even if you want to do it yourself its easy. A good benefit is having so many other places so nearby and can do some shopping get a hair cut or rent amovie just to name a few.
