Joes is a lovely little café tucked in the back streets around Seven Dials. It’s cosy and comfy, and could be described as an upmarket greasy spoon! It’s quite small and a bit of a squeeze with a pram, but once in we were seated comfortably in the corner. We ordered at the counter but I think the waitress would have come to us, however she thought we were waiting for more people. I went for eggs benedict while my companion went for the veggie Spanish hash. This was offered as a small or large portion. She went for small but there was plenty of food on the plate, the large must have been humungous! My dish was really tasty but one of the muffins was a bit hard on the bottom, giving the impression it was slightly stale. After our lunch, we both had a hot chocolate and chatted away. It was only when the staff started stacking chairs on tables around us that we realised the café had actually closed. However, we never felt pressurised to leave which was really nice. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

If there was one place I wish I lived closer to then it would be the lovely Joe’s café. This is the perfect breakfast spot. Set in a residential area around the back of Seven dials it is a bit out of the way from the town centre but trust me it is worth the trek. You can even drive there and park right outside for £1 per hour. The couple that run the place are really friendly and have put a lot of work into creating the ideal local café. You can taste how good quality all of the ingredients are and there is a huge emphasis on locally produced foods such as the sausages and bacon, the vegetables and the bread. My mum raves about the mushrooms and says the mushrooms and the sausages are the best she has ever tasted. For this kind of quality in Hove then you can expect to pay much more so I think they offer great value. The prices have gone up a bit since they first started but it is still good value for money. The brown bread is better than the white and do try the fancy ketchup rather than heinz(they have both to please everyone).

I was driving through a little quaint part of town, when I found this little café. It looked nice, clean and friendly. So I went in with my wife for a bite. Wow what a breakfast. All the food they use is sourced from local suppliers. It was cooked to perfection! I’m a huge meet eater but decided to try the veggie breakfast for the very first time and boy was I impressed! It was delicious full of flavour perfectly cooked eggs, sautéed potatoes delicious grilled tomatoes, mushrooms beautiful fresh chewy white toast etc! My wife was equally impressed with her meat option. All in all a great surprise and start to the day. Check it out!
