Loved it, from the US, spent a few hours in shop and bought out almost all men’s hats. Wish you had a Web site to order from.

Really friendly and helpful staff, who I think go above and beyond that of other vintage shops in the area! I was trying to find a particular item and the guy behind the counter, stopped what he was doing and went through all the boots trying to help me! Great quality, affordable stuff here! Massive fan of the staff and products here at Dirty Harry!

This shop is worth visiting, if for nothing else than for the bargain basement, where most of the items are £5 or three for a tenner. I came out of there with three excellent shirts. So, they still needed a bit of extra cleaning but for the price I’m not complaining. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Since my previous visit the bargain basement has changed into the women’s department. However, the place is still well worth a visit, with many good items on the racks at reasonable prices.

Brighton’s hot spot for cowboy fashion, Dirty Harry’s features everything you might need for your modern, asphalt cowboy look: boots, belts, big checkered shirts, jeans jackets, etc. It’s all, like so much of the Brighton fashion scene, a bit too cool for school, but there is a lot of choice here for the potential Clint Eastwood impersonator. Shirts of all sizes and colours, plenty of different types of jacket… again, not really my style, but I can recognise that they have more than enough here to outfit a small army of cowboys of various shapes and sizes and ideas of sartorial elegance. Most customers here seem to be coming to Dirty Harry’s for the cowboy boots and shirts, and it’s easy to see why: these are the fashion items most likely to fit in with a regular and not cowboy-themed wardrobe. The boots apparently sell out pretty quickly, so I’d recommend getting advice on when in the month is a good time to make sure you can get your size!

The North Lanes is full of «vintage» shops, however, with the exception of ‘Beyond Retro’, most of these are no better than their less glamorous charity counter parts. I really failed to see what was vintage when I came here, while most of the clothes are indeed second hand, they are largely tasteless cast off’s that nobody wanted. The average price of a t-shirt in here would probably be about £20, despite the fact that it originally probably cost £10, and is only about 5 years old. I equally disliked that much of the stock is made to look vintage, but is actually mass produced and brand new, just expensive.

Three floors of vintage and retro clothing-leather coats, skinny jeans, cowboy boots, animal adorned knitwear. A very cool place to get one or two items from, especially the outside sale rail which is full of bargains-often ‘those’ plaid shirts that are EVERYWHERE are there too. Just a note, if you shop here too often you may find yourself running into many different variations of your own ‘unique’ styles.

Every vintage store has its unique selling point and Dirty Harry has two– the sheer size of it, with three floors devoted to second-hand clothing from the sixties through to to nineties. The second great thing about Dirty Harry’s is that they get new stock of all their items all the time– I have been going back regularly the last two weeks looking for the perfect green parka with furry hood in my size– they keep coming in and I know I will find the perfect one any time for twenty pounds. Check out their dungarees! Great leather jackets. it goes on and on.

Damn Dirty Harry. I went down there this afternoon with the sole purpose of finding a new pair of cowboy boots and they had none left in my size! They had dozens of pairs stacked up prettily in the cowboy boot corner but they were all either too small or too big. When I told the friendly, tattooed guy on the floor, he laughed and said they’d had a new shipment in three days ago but my size — 5 and a half — tended to go within hours. Crushed, I wandered around the three floors of this awesome vintage emporium and looked at the tried and treasured Levis, the cool leather jackets, the checked shirts, the 50s and 60s dresses, the skinny ties, the Sonic Youth and Joy Division tees and the the neat accesories. My heart just wasn’t in it though. I guess I’m gonna have to go back later this week and camp outside til the new boots arrive.

Before the days of Topman and H&M selling skinny jeans, I would have to delve into the boxes of denim to find«vintage»(also known as «someone else’s») Levis at Dirty Harry. I’d buy them a couple of sizes too small, leaving nothing to the imagination, but making me feel pretty cutting-edge. So, if you want to pick up something alternative to the high street and/or are on a tight budget, then head over to Dirty Harry. With the massive painting of Clint Eastwood as the eponymous grubby hero on the front of the building, it’s a hard one to miss, so get on down and peruse the plaid! Second-hand/vintage clothes are great because like your grandparents/Kanye West say: «Damn they don’t make ‘em like this anymore» — and they don’t.
