My Aunt buys regularly from here as she lives yards away. On my weekend visits her, I have never been disappointed with the high quality meat/poultry served up for lunches. I have been to assist her and found that she, and so many others are given the utmost courtesy, as well as a great service. Well DoneBig thank you

Choice Cuts is a fantastic family run butcher right next to Preston Park. The range and quality of meats available is brilliant, not to mention the home-baked pies, cakes and other sweet and savory treats. They have cold meats to purchase such as salami and chorizo, cheeses, and local farm eggs(I get all my eggs from here now). They have local organic fruit and veg on display outside the shop, and a good range of store cupboard goods, ranging from the norm to the extra special — caviar anyone? Household goods such as organic cleaning products are available although the selection is small, this is primarily a butchers after all. This year I got my Christmas turkey from Choice Cuts. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, both on ordering and collection. They asked if this was my first Christmas turkey purchase — I must have had that nervous and stressed look plastered across my face! And consequently gave me plenty of advise on preparation and cooking. The Christmas lunch was a huge success, I’m putting this done to the quality of the turkey as opposed to me cooking skills! I will be trying to use Choice Cuts for all my meat purchases from now on, it beats plastic-wrapped supermarket produce by a mile.

I was a regular customer at Choice Cuts for about six months as I lived just up the road. One day I did some shopping there, spending over £10, and the shopkeeper, who was behind the counter, was putting the stuff into a bag for me. I paid for the shopping, then asked for my bag of shopping.(I thought shopkeeper still had it at that point as I’d never been given it.) Bag had disappeared. Choice Cuts realised it had been picked up from the counter by another customer who’d been in there at the same time as me. I went outside to look for the customer no sign. Choice Cuts didn’t offer to replace my shopping or refund my money. They said they thought she’d come back when she realised her mistake. I left, not wanting to cause a fuss. Over the next few days I rang a few times customer had not been back to return my bag. I asked for the money to be reimbursed as I had never been given the bag it had been put on the counter in front of the other woman and I’d never even touched it. They refused to give me my money back or replace shopping. Unbelievably bad customer service and I was a regular customer there. Have never been in there since.

This shop has it all for me! Why can’t there be more of them? As you walk in the smell of fresh bread, pasties and cheese hits you like a warm gloved hand of hunger! I used to live around the corner from Choice Cuts and although its a little more expensive than the super markets, its worth every penny. The steaks are hung twice as long as you’d get in Tescos and taste ten times better(try the sirloin). When cooking your Saturday fry-up, its worth buying your sausages, bacon and eggs from here. The bacon doesn’t have that watery stuff emulating from it when cooked and the sausages are so moreish. Its a nice place to buy some bits for lunch too. The bread and cold meats are great to share but my favourites are the Jamaican pasties they make.

Choice Cuts is a great little neighbourhood butchers, as their name implies. Select your meat and they’ll cut it how you like it, with/without fat etc. What’s really great is that all their meat is organic and tastes all the better for it! So, for those who, like me, like to know where their meat comes from and feel dubious and frankly fearful about prepackaged supermarket meat, this is the place for you! Not only about the meat, Choice Cuts is also a great place to pick up fresh bread and deli items– make sure to check out the cheeses… mmmm! In addition to this there are shelves packed with chocolate(Green and Blacks etc.), sauces, jams and lots more. They even do Ecover and Faith in Nature products, meaning you don’t have to sacrifice your ethics and buy yucky corner shop alternatives, if you run out! Thank you, Choice Cuts, you are the kind of local shop that makes me smile!

Choice Cuts is one of my local shops and I am so glad to live near it. They aim to provide a personal service, always asking you how you are and remembering what you like to buy. My boyfriend buys all his meat from here and says that it hands down beats any other meat he has ever tasted and is far better than supermarket organic meat. The prices, particularly for beef, can reflect that, but the chicken is a good price for free-range organic. Their sausages are made on site and are brilliantly yummy and reasonably priced(so says boyfriend– his favorites are the spicy merguez and the cumberland). They have a small selection of veg, which is also organic and is definitely more expensive than supermarket or Infinity. They have everyday basics like milk, butter, flour and sugar– they try and stock as much organic as they can, which means the prices can be a little higher generally, but it has always been quality. One of the perks of Choice Cuts, aside from the fact that they know my name and chat to me, is that they sell Real Patisserie bread and patisseries. The chewy brown loaf and the rye loaf are amazing with poached eggs on a weekend and the almond croissants are legendary. They have a small selection of frozen items– always good for ice-cream cravings or topping up on frozen peas. They also provide a service whereby you can ring them and ask them to put bread or patisseries aside the next morning so that you don’t have to roll out of bed too early on a weekend to get your fix. Did I say it’s a family run business? I like that about it, there is always some banter going on between the staff because they know each other so well.
