Cheeky Monkeys is a lovely children’s store in Rottingdean and my personal favourite, this is where I come when I need to buy something for my nephew and I’m flat out of ideas. There’s lots of original ideas for gifts in here from the award winning mini and maxi micro scooters to Mini IQ books. There’s also traditional toys that hark back to a simpler time: wooden animals, knitted booties, lots of classic books, bears, puzzles and handmade clothes. It makes me wish I was 2 again. A lovely seafront location where they also organise ‘Boddler’s’ groups for mums and Toddlers to break loose.

Okay, so I visited this store only because of the name. But that’s one of my weaknesses, I’ll visit any store that has «Monkeys» (or «Chickens») in its name. I adore monkeys, especially cheeky ones, so it was impossible for me to resist.
This is a children’s store, and there is a wide selection to choose from. Fascinating to me was their selection of toys and educational books. There was one particular stuffed animal (yes, it was a monkey) that could have easily been purchased by me. They have a wide assortment of other colourful items including children’s clothing, newborn baby gifts, and just gifts in general. They all sell specialised baby equipment and accessories. If there is a children’s birthday coming up and you need to buy a gift, this is definitely the place to go to. But keep away from that stuffed monkey that’s displayed near the door, that bugger is mine.
