This review is for the BRIGHTONSUPERSTORESTOREBRANCHONPRESTONRD– NOT the Southwick Branch which I have no experience of. Initially I too found this Branch of Carters to be fantastic, staff were really helpful & a good display of goods I was so happy with my experience there that I fully intended to go back for the purchase of several other large items that are giving up that we now need up grading. I am so glad I waited I have personally found the AFTERSSALES service to be nothing short of VERYPOOR, in particular the attitude of the Lady who I believe to be the manageress at the Brighton Superstore I’m still reeling from the conversation I’ve just had with her, considering she was ringing to tell me of yet further delays, her attitude left a lot to be desired. I bought & paid for a NEF Gas Hob in mid December the lovely guy who served me, told me they were out of stock, but he hoped they would be able to get the item in for collection before Xmas & they would ring & let me know when it was in this would have been great, especially as I’m disabled & struggling with our current hob, which isn’t as safe for me to use now, but as it was the holiday period I was quite happy to be patient & didn’t really expect it to be in by then. New Year came & went still no news & our Gas fitter friend wasn’t going to be available if I didn’t get it soon so I rang on the 4th of Jan to be told, without any form of apology, why was I ringing, they would ring me when it was in I had to argue that I’d been promised the Hob sooner, so I had good reason to be chasing it up if the Lady had simply said, I’m sorry, our suppliers have let us down with the delivery information, or at least in someway acknowledged that they had let me down, then I would of still thought well of the company & returned there to buy the freezer, oven etc we also need — but to put it mildly her attitude left a LOT to be desired, she was very aggressive & I found the only way I could get a word in was to be equally aggressive back not something I enjoy doing & could really have done without the stress, all I wanted was an honest answer as to when my Hob would be ready for collection she then pretty much accused me of lying as to the expected delivery time I was given at point of sale why on earth would I do that I wasn’t demanding a refund, just to know when I could pick up my Hob the one they had already taken the money for Eventually I got an estimated first week in Feb not good, but at least some sort of an answer, I did ask that they kept me updated as I wouldn’t be happy with it been much later. In fairness she did then ring back a week or so later asking for my e-mail address which I gave her correctly even spelling everything out for her so that there was no mistakes — I asked again if she had an actual date yet, she repeated First week in Feb, I was polite, but expressed my disappointment & said that if it were to be any later then I would prefer a refund. I should add that by this time I had already had our Gas fitter friend tell me that another supplier of his(appliances online) had the same item at a lower price & they were advertising 13th of Feb as the date they would have their NEF items in stock again.& that he felt it very unlikely that Carters would have delivery in by the the beginning of Feb. Today as expected, though I hoped I’d be wrong, I’ve just taken another phone call from this lady, first off telling me she’s being trying to e-mail me, but I’ve given her the wrong e-mail address not the more polite I may of written it down wrong can I double check which she obviously had as she’d forgotten the obvious .com at the end, followed by, we now have a delivery date for you 13th of FEB!!! no– I’m really sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstance, we are going to have to let you down again, not even the slightest attempt at decent customer service, just a generally stroppy attitude as if I had no right not to be happy about this & she was doing me a favour by ringing me at all a month AFTER I was initially promised they would get my Hob On my letting her know politely that I felt I had been messed around & knew when I last spoke with her, that 13th Feb, quoted delivery date of other NEF suppliers, yet on the same day I’d been told this by our Fitter Friend, she insisted it was going to be the first week in Feb & I stupidly gave her the benefit of doubt, as I’d hoped for better service, as thats what I believed the company to be kwon for — she then gets very stroppy & tells me she wants my card details as she’s giving me a refund, as she doesn’t want customers like me she went on to argue that I had no right to get be so aggressive I was polite all the way through, did not swear & did not put myself across as angry. but was very firm, not because I wanted to be, but because was given no choice, there was no way I was going to be heard by this stroppy woman otherwise. I just hope I do get the refund,

I’m not admittedly in the business of spending large amounts of oven units or really plush Fridge freezers, but I am in the habit of buying discounted irons, kettles and/or cheap Henry the Hoovers. This large unit sells both end of the domestic appliances board, and stocks Miele, Bosch, Stoves, Hotpoint and Neff. Carters deliver free to customers and also have their own service company to repair good when they the product has run down it’s company warranty. The website is worth looking at if your looking to make a substantial purchase, or just go in and talk to one of the helpful team.

I’ve walked past Carters so many times and not really payed it much attention– except to vaguely register that if I ever needed white goods they seemed to have a good stock. I finally went in on the weekend to buy a hoover bag and was mightily impressed with their aisles of appliances… didn’t think I would be saying that today! Carters is huge! They have just about every type of kitchen appliance possible from the smallest kitchen blender to fridges and freezers. As an independent shop they are also happy to negotiate a little on price and will deliver to your house. And, as it happens, they have a great selection of vacuum cleaner bags!
