This great newsagents offers a bit more than most. They have a great magazine selection, and I spent a majority of my time just browsing through. After seeing the shopkeeper glance over at me, I thought that he was getting a little annoyed that I wasn’t buying anything, so I put the magazine I was flipping through back on the shelf, and continued to walk around the store. Hey, I would be annoyed too if somebody just walked into my store and started reading magazines for 15 minutes without buying anything. They have the usual assortment of drinks and snacks. They also have a few grocery items and quick meal options. They also have a few stationery items and cards as well. There’s a bit more variety here than other newsagents.

It might sound strange but this spacious newsagents on Preston Street is one of the best places to go if you’re thinking of getting a new tattoo and want some inspiration. They usually stock about 6 – 10 different magazines from Total Tattoo to Skin Shots and Skin Deep. They also stock a wide range of other magazines and newspapers, cards, stationary, milk, bread and tinned groceries. The staff are warm and friendly but rest assured, if you spend too long thumbing their magazines before deciding which to go for they will expect you to buy them. Handily, there’s also a new tattoo parlour opened directly across the road too!

Having just exited the rather minimalist Mountain’s Store just up the road from here, I was quite startled at the sheer size of this shop’s interior, and the range of products on offer. Burnett’s is far more than just a newsagents, its stock including a good selection of convenience items, cards, snacks, soft drinks, newspapers and food products. The magazine selection is particularly good, and the service is exceptionally friendly. Possibly the best newsagents on Preston Street.

A real neighbourhood family newsagents which still does home deliveries of newspapers early in the morning(ours come at 7am) so you can read the paper before setting off for work. A well stocked little corner shop with the usual basic food and drink, greetings cards, lottery tickets and a big range of cigarettes and loose tobacco. Nice friendly service — and if you want a magazine or paper they don’t normally stock they’ll order it in for you. Open all hours!
