Bodega D Tapa is a tiny little tapas restaurant just opposite the Dome. We are quite spoilt with good tapas restaurants in Brighton, consequently I hadn’t got round to trying this one before, although it had always been on my radar. It has a small front room plus extra seating at the back, and a tiny kitchen to the side. It was Saturday night when we visited and the restaurant was really busy, surprising as it was early, around half six, but I guess people were doing exactly what we were doing — popping in for a quick bite before a show at the Dome. We had intended to get there earlier but we were running late. None the less, we managed to snag a couple of bar stools in front of the window. The wait staff seemed to be a little overrun to start with and were a little brisk. Short on time we tried to order quickly, we decided on four tapa dishes plus some bread. The wine, a delightful tempranillo arrived quickly with the bread. Pimento peppers were good as always but could have done with thick rock salt instead of the fine salt that they came with. The second dish, a pork dish from the specials list, was absolutely divine — tender pieces of pork with Iberico ham, peppers and pine nuts. However, the pressure was on, it was only ten minutes until our concert was supposed to start and we knew they wouldn’t let us in if we were late. We asked the waiter if they could wrap the last two dishes and we would return to pick them up on our way home. Instead, they offered to stop the order and cook them fresh when we returned. There were a few more tables available when we popped back in around 10ish. The staff instantly recognised us and soon we had our garlic prawns and red, white and black sausage dish, along with another glass of red and some extra pan, of course. The prawns were delicious albeit very garlicky, it was a good job we were sharing! The sausages were ok but I probably wouldn’t order them again. Bodega D Tapa doesn’t reach number one spot for the food in my Brighton tapas experience, but the service certainly puts them high on the list and will ensure that we return many times in the future.

I love this little place for a nice intimate lunch and a good bottle of Rioja! Its surprising that this place isn’t more popular as the food is fantastic and the staff so friendly. There’s an absolutely huge choice of tapas to choose from and you could(I could) pretty much sit there all day just nibbling away. Its all really light and not at all drenched in grease like some places. The wine list is pretty concise and there’s loads to chose from but as I said, the house Rioja is really good and I’m going to stick to that one.

A lovely little Spanish tapas place in the North Laine, Bodegas D Tapas is a great place to sit for a meal, although it is much pricier than some of the local options, and a little cramped. In the end, I like tapas, so the food on offer is right up my alley, but I’d only go here if some of my favourites were too busy or closed. Tapas are one of my favourite types of meal out: lots of different foods to eat, often Spanish and thus quite meaty and flavoursome. Out of all the places in Brighton(and there are quite a few), Bodegas D Tapas is a sister eatery to a place with a long name further up North Laine, which is bigger, with a greater variety of food and booze available. However, they are often busy, in which case Bodegas D Tapas is a great alternative. The food is authentic, which can’t be said for grease factories like La Tasca, and very well made. My only sticking point is the realtively sparse menu compared to the sister restaurant, especially in the drinks department. Still, what is on offer is very good, especially the authentic Chorizo: none of that tough gristly stuff you find in most shops. It isn’t as good as it’s sister restaurant, but Bodegas D Tapas is a great alternative if the other is full. Also, if you’re in a this part of town, trying to get into Pompoko, which is next door, Bodegas D Tapas is a great alternative: give it a go!

Bordega d Tapa is a lil deli come min tapas bar in Brighton’s North Lanes. Its primarily a wine seller but I’m not going to pretend I know anything about wine! Its open for breakfast if your hungover and looking for something different and tasty. The shop looks like a little house swished in between the pub opposite the Brighton Dome. Its a great place to get a cheap, delicious and authentic Spanish lunch or dinner, As well as stock up on fabulous vino!

rather disappointing. this place is small and should be authentic I can’t think of any reason why the food isn’t cooked fresh instead you get tinned microwaved tapas whilst it’s edible and not that bad considering what it is I wouldn’t go back.

I had a rather mixed experience here on a Friday night. My friends recommended this place and my husband popped in, expecting authentic tapas. It’s tiny and has the feel of an authentic spanish tapas bar. We were seated in the courtyard, this I must add was in the middle of winter, but there was a heater and cover and it felt fun and novel even though I kept my coat on throughout the meal. Slowly it filled up and I was rubbing shoulders with other customersit all added to the atmosphere. Our bottle of wine, made in the restaurant‘s family run winery was beautiful and took me back to heady days in Spain. I was really looking forward to the tapas dishes, but they were unremarkable. Olives were fine but not exceptional. I couldn’t eat the chorizo stewtoo rich and fatty. The waitress was rushed off her feet with a full restaurant. I did think we got a little ignored as I had to ask for a dish 3 times. I can see why people like it here but I think I’ll come back, but just for more of the wine.

A brilliant tiny little tapas bar. The menu is small but really authentic, with the chorizo in sherry a particular favourite. The cured meat selection is the best I’ve ever tasted in the UK. There is a small selection of very reasonable and excellent Spanish wines and sherries(I believe the company is also a supplier to other restaurants). The staff are all Spanish and very friendly. All in all, a lovely place to spend an evening having a chat and a nibble. They have also opened a new branch in Sydney Street which is a little bigger but just as good.
