Does everyone remember the ASDA advert from the 90’s where it had that cheesy jingle and everyone tapped their pockets in time to the music? I wish Asda was still like that. Maybe it is, maybe I’ve changed? I don’t know, I only ever go to Asda when my mate Ben fancies giving me a lift up to the Marina to buy cheap booze when preparing for some sort of house party. It doesn’t even stock the alcohol that I like! It sells everything one could need though, at a bargain price. There is also a George section that sells clothes(remember when it was called Mr George? Okay I need to get out of the 90’s now) In a nutshell, Asda is a middle of the road supermarket. Everything you could want or need(apart from sourdough bread *ahem*) As I keep telling everyone, I’m a Waitrose girl these days and I love Aldi too. Nothing in between. Which is what Asda is if we are being honest.

For Americans this is pretty much our equivalent of Walmart. From the prices and to the fact it’s opened 24 hours :), so when you’re tired of studying late night Asda runs are always an option. There’s a lot of variety within this store so you if you’re trying to save money you can always go for more generic brands. I saved a lot of money going to Asda. Sometimes I even found really good deals on fruits :) & definitely stocked up on the pasta & goodies. Aside from just food you can also buy a lot of household essentials, electronics and even clothes.

The most epic and cheap of all Brightons super super megastores. Personally I never have the need to go there, Kemptown has all the shops I need to keep my healthy and I am not fond of navigating through 2 aisles of cereals just to find some plain porridge oats. I did go in last week whilst on a trip to the marina and they sell pretty much everything they can get under their roof including CD’s, DVD’s, hoovers, candles, cards, balloons, plastic cups, toasters, food etc. It is open 24 hours so if you need to have an outdoor dinner party for 500 and 3am that’s handy. I suppose its nice to do a days shopping over at the marina to go somewhere different, as the marina does feel like a completely different town.

Whether one can really bring oneself to praise to Asda, or any supermarket, I don’t know. What I do know though is that this Asda is BIG, and things are CHEAP. This is good. Especially if you’re a student and looking to stock up on household essentials. There’re are big sections for electronics and clothes too.

Ever regretted making a detour? Yesterday, I decided to nip into Asda for a few bits and pieces on the way home. I’ve never been a fan of the store — it’s too cold and the whole place is lit up like a floodlight football pitch! — but I decided to ignore my feelings for three reasons. 1 — I knew Waitrose and Sainsburys were already closed. 2 — I knew grabbing some fresh veggies and tofu for a stir-fry here would be quicker and cheaper than dialling for a take-away. 3 — I knew I could pick up some bubblebath and other essentials at the same time for a fraction of the price elsewhere. What I wasn’t anticipating was getting to the store, stepping out of the car and being knocked off my feet by a horrendous smell. It was so powerful I actually asked one of the members of staff in the reception what the hell it was. When he replied ‘Sewage, madam’ I got back in my car and high-tailed it home, empty-handed.

You’re gaurenteed to find cheap shit at Asda as it is basically the UK equivalent of Wal-Mart. Incidnelty, I’m pretty sure Wal-Mart owns Asda. This one is massive and open 24 hours which is awesome.
