I recently stayed at the Forest Pine Hotel for a work conference. No comment can therefore be made on price, but here’s a wee overview of everything else! The bar/restaurant area is nice enough, with a bit too much foliage, and not quite what one would call ‘modern.’ There are, however, some amazingly high backed chairs that you could sink in to for a whole evening! Lunch was served up fajita style, with tacos and wraps with either chicken/chilli/veggie chilli, and a nice change from sitting down to yet another 3 course dinner. The mini desserts served up were also completely awesome, with a toffee meringue really taking centre stage. The evening dinner was slightly more disappointing so, if you are looking for an even space in the Scunthorpe area, consider focusing more on lunch. Soup was bland and watery, chicken just chicken and veggies, and the lemon tart a touch too thick — and served as a proper slab of tart. The rooms were airy, though I wasn’t a fan of being on the ground floor. On initial check in, we were put in a double room despite requesting a twin, so had to trek back to reception to ask to be moved. She apologised for the mix up, but it was requested so a bit of an oversight. Bathroom had a slightly odd mural on the shower, but otherwise the space was nice and clean. Housekeeping rocked up at around 8am, which wasn’t great after the night before! A good enough event space and the right size for this conference; depends how long you wish to spend in Scunthorpe.
