Great facilities with tea room and water sports. A small child’s playground and a level gravel path around the lake (1.3 miles) make it great for kids too. Watch out for pay and display parking as it’s not immediately clear when you arrive.

For a gentle Sunday walk, you can’t ask for much more than Talkin Tarn. With a great view towards Hullerbank sighting point and the fells beyond, it is beautiful regardless of whether it is summer or winter. Formed about 10,000 years ago from a glacier, the walk around the lake is about a mile long. The tea shop offers a great view over the lake as well as gifts and souvenirs, but it is closed ín winter
