Isn’t bad for a pint. Very cramped at night time.

If we are ever seeing friends in Bramhall for a drink, we tend to head to beluga for a couple to get the night started ! As a bar, it has friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. There’s limited seating inside, however there is a spacious(albeit a little tired) beer garden out the back for those warmer days. At the weekend they usually have live music and I have never been disappointed ! Unfortunately, beluga also sells food and is trying to be one of bramhalls top restaurants. Honestly, I would probably warn people off actually eating here. We’ve tried it a few times over the past couple of years(catered parties, when the occasional drinking session requires food and also for breakfast because we thought– how can you go wrong with bacon???) and honestly, I think I would rather eat the £1 specials from Iceland. The food on the day/night menu is overcooked and overseasoned. It also seems like the majority of it comes out of a deep fat fryer. Considering they have ‘chefs’ I think most of it is just packaged stuff that has been warmed through! It is extremely overpriced for what you get. After vowing to never come here again for lunch/dinner because it’s just a waste of money, we thought we would grab some breakfast one day after an early bank appointment. Napa over the road didn’t look quite open so we decided to head into beluga. How wrong we were to make this decision. I ordered a sausage and bacon toasted ciabatta, whilst my other half ordered a double sausage. Mine came with one piece of bacon and one sausage on a very flimsy piece of bread with pretty grim ketchup. Considering this was about £7 I was very unimpressed ! When my other half’s food came it wasn’t even right, somehow they had misheard ‘sausage’ for ‘egg’… I complained but because we were running short on time, we couldn’t wait for them to cook it again. There was no apology and no offer for anything off the bill, which we were fairly disappointed with! Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone for food. It’s ok for a drink, but if u want something to eat, there is a Chinese takeaway next door !!!

From a Beer drinkers point of view, Beluga is OK, the beer varieties won’t wow you and they are your standards you expect to see in bars, which means its not going to disappoint if you’re after a quick easy pint. Beyond the beer though, its probably one of my more preferred Bar Socialising type places(read non-pub), when I’ve been I’ve gone in mixed sex groups, it doesn’t feel to me as a place where you’d go for a blokes drinking night, but that said the centre of Bramhall isn’t really a Blokes drinking haven, especially when there are lots of pubs not too far from the centre. I’ve never quite worked out if I think its large or not, being on 3 tiers its difficult to judge the interior. Fridays and Saturdays it gets busy as you’d expect, though I would say a lot of people use it as a springboard before going elsewhere, as after about 9.30 it starts to clear a bit. Out the back there is a decent covered heated Beer Gardenee-Smoking Area, and if you’re there during the day and the weather is decent they open up the front and there is seating in front of the place as well giving it that European Street Café feel. I can’t tell you about the food as I’ve not partaken as yet. Being in the centre of Bramhall makes it a prime location, whether you’re looking for somewhere to while away the afternoon or evening, or if you’re looking for a place to meet up before going on elsewhere.

This is as good as it gets for village living. Forget neighbouring Wilmslow and Didsbury village, Beluga in Bramhall is where it’s at! I went there with friends straight from work on a Friday and I had one of the best evenings ever! The décor is decadent and sumptuous and around the tables you don’t just get the obligatory wooden chairs, there are larger tables with a comfy sofas for you to lounge on as you choose from the extensive menu. my friends and I had a selection of tapas and I highly recommend the Gambas Pil Pil and the chicken dishes. The service is fabulous, young and friendly staff who will cater to your every whim. At 8pm Beluga comes alive and becomes more of a lively wine bar with a totally mixed crowd. For those in my party who partake in a social cigarette, there was a beautifully heated and decorated external area and they were not subjugated to crowding like naughty teenagers in a bus stop. Beluga Bramhall has a late license on Friday and Saturday for party animals but for early morning larks, it serves a full breakfast menu and I have it on good recommendation that the scrambled egg made with cream is to die for. Whether you prefer cocktails or croissants, this is the place to go.
