Went for a curry in Bradford, THE capital of curry in UK! It was really good. They had an early bird menu for under £10 including a starter, a main And a drink. Quite filling! The food was good, a bit too spicy for me. Service was quick. Restaurant was nice, really simple decoration. Had a lovely time. But not sure I would go again.

Yay finally a place that let me create my own curry! I can get my veg and chicken. Went here for lunch with hubby and was happy with the options and food. Nice environment and could be a good date place.

First impressions were ok, it has it’s own free parking within a pay and display and the restaurant looks quite good from the outside. Inside the décor looks almost colonial but good nonetheless. Getting into my seat I noticed that the tables are packed in a bit and conversation overflows between tables. It was early on a weekday so there appeared to be only one waiter at first but he was quick to come and take drinks and food orders although his recommendations were not very descriptive. We weren’t offered poppadoms and pickles. The starters were quite slow to come out, two prawn dishes were very good but the cold chicken chaat was decidedly average in taste and presentation compared to Prashad’s(vege, served cold but amazing flavours and presentation) or Amaan’s(simpler, served hot but delicious). The main course again wasn’t the quickest but the dishes were all consistently good, the rice cooked to perfection and the garlic naan was one of the best I’ve ever had. The waiter kept drinks orders going and checked everything was ok, which it was. On settling the bill there was some confusion over discounts published on their website but it still came to a very reasonable £55 for starters and mains for 3 and a few drinks each. Overall not bad but not a standout experience either.

Yesterday the boyfriend and I travelled to Bradford for the media museum. Essentially I watched him play computer games, both 3D and vintage. We then decided to pop over the road for a late lunch at Omar Khan’s. It was about three and the place was empty, not surprisingly but also a bit awkwardly. It was a very cosy, quite posh interior and it felt a little as though we were pushing in. I hasten to add that none of that feeling came from the waiter who was attentive without hovering. He also earned points from me by putting us next to the radiator! We both opted for the early bird menu, a starter and a main for 8.50. I decided on aloo patties and a vegetable makhi, the boyfriend chose meat samosas and chicken rogan josh. This was a brave choice for me, i.e. not a korma, but it sounded mild. The starters were lovely, although sadly the boyfriend found a bit of plastic in his salad. It was an unfortunate moment, but the food itself was lovely and the waiter handled it well by giving us drinks on the house. This was a nice change from other responses I have seen from waiting staff when something has gone awry(my favourite being the waitress who when being advised of a silverfish ON the dining table simply squashed it into the tablecloth and then announced ‘There are no silverfish in this establishment madam’!). With the mains, we both had an order of pilau rice and a garlic naan. It seemed a lot as it approached the table on a trolley, but it was just the right size. My curry was gorgeous, mild without being insipid with a nice quantity and selection of veg. The garlic naan was slightly crispy but not burned. I was very happy. I may even venture over again, though I may ensure next time that I take a book to carry me through the video game preview.

This isnt the best restaurant but it also isnt the worst either. The food is average and tastes much better after a few beers. It serves all the normal indian food and it is very filling. The prices are average so that is something ok. The décor is very nice and cosy and very clean. The staff are lovely and polite and always up for a laugh with the customers who come in drunk joking about. There isnt enough space inside and thus they have crammed in as many tables as they can get away with thus it makes you feel very squashed so if you want a quiet relaxed meal this isnt for you. The toilets are down stairs and are nice and clean.

This is an ok Indian. Plenty more in Bradford that are lots lots better! It’s always very busy so someone must like it. However, I think the food is average, the service is average and the tables are too close together — so you feel squeezed in and like you can’t have conversations without the people on the table next to you listening/joining in.

There are loads of curry houses in Bradford and some of them are really really grotty. But I have to say Omar Khan’s is a prince among men, a diamond in the rough. The food is amazing, tasty, and fresh. The naan(especially my favourte, the peshwari naan) are big, share-size and just gorgeous. You can tell they take time over their food, the way it’s prepared and the ingredients. It is in the top 5 of curry houses in Bradford and considering there must be a few hundred, that’s quite the achievement. Décor wise it is fairly traditional with free parking and a good location on little horton road. It’s close to the uni and college but never over-run with students as it’s prices are slightly higher than the cheap and not so cheerful curry houses on great horton. The staff are really nice but the best thing about this place are the prices, it’s ridiculously cheap! Visit here if you can if you want the true taste of Bradford with none of the tackiness or loutishness you can get in the area(and I should know. I lived there for three years!)

A fantastic restaurant in the centre of Bradford. Wonderful traditional indian cuisine mixed with speciality dishes. Their sizzler starters are fabulous! There is always a great atmosphere and staff are friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit!
