First review for a few months. Not been a good year so far. Fell and broke my ankle(3 places) which required surgery. During recovery contracted a clot on my lung. So my first meal out since February and we chose Mumtaz. I’m glad we did, my last visit here was about 5 years ago and I still recall how good it was. I’m pleased to report that nothing has changed. The food is excellent as is the service. I’m still using crutches and the chap that welcomed us into the restaurant immediately had a table for two brought closer to us rather than me making my way to it. We both love the mumtaz chicken samosa so we started with those, they are excellent and not to be missed! Main courses were just as good and good sized portion too. We had a jug of Strawberry Lassi which was great. I don’t think they serve alcohol but I am on the wagon and Sharon was driving. Very pleased we chose here it is a great restaurant in an area saturated with choice for Indian food.

Service is very Slow. Usually a long Queue but for some reason preferential treatment always given to people who walk in and give the Owner a Hug!!!

excellent food is always served at the mumtaz we usually visit at least once a month although its a little more expensive than the other curry houses we have eaten in, i think the quality of the food justifys the higher price. we travel nearly 30 miles to eat at the mumtaz and its usually sunday when we go and although it can be busy we find that the service and the quality is always there. its spotlessly clean and the décor is nice and well worth the price we pay.

I first made the trip accross the border into Yorkshire to go to Mumtaz in about 1997, back then it was only about a quarter of the size that it is now. Back then as now the food is still some of the best you can get where Kashmiri/Indian is concerned. I’ve yet to have a meal there that was just ok, every time it is fantastic and I always leave very full. Whilst there on Sunday I tried their Keema Paratha to start which in my most humblest of opinions was the nicest starter I have ever had!!! I could eat it every day, definitley one to add to the last meal on earth list. For my main I tried the Keema Chicken(Medium) which although I did fancy it(or else why would I order it?) was even nicer than I imagined it would be. It had just the right amount of burn, just enough to make you take a nice slug of their beautiful Sweet Lassi. And the Garlic Naan that I had to accompany the Keema was a joy to behold, right down to the little puddle of garlic oil that had formed into one of the creases in the bread. Yep that’s right I said puddle of garlic oil! I now want everything to come with a puddle of garlic oil, even my cereal!!! I normally don’t bother with a sweet no matter what cuisine I’m eating, but after tasting the delight that was the carrot halwa at the even at Mughli I just had to taste Mumtaz’s version. And I have to say it was on a par with the goegeousness of the Mughli dish. If you find yourself in Bradford an you are after a curry(and why wouldn’t you be?) then I can heartily recommend Mumtaz, and i’m also lead to believe that they have opened now in Leeds, which I will check out the next time i’m in that neck of the woods. Now all I need to do is get them to open one on this side of the hills!!!

Great food, great atmosphere, and just an overall great experience. Mumtaz is affordable though the restaurant looks and has a posh feel to it. The restaurant was mainly frequented by South Asians which I thought was a good sign that the food was not only authentic but was quality as well. There were plenty of staple South Asian dishes for those who aren’t quite as adventurous such as Chicken Tikka Masala as well as some more exotic dishes. Service was impeccable… as a matter of fact one of the owners gave me a free jar of Masala fish rub as I paid at the register. One quick note… the restaurant does not serve alcohol on the premise nor is it a BYOB. This gives the restaurant a bit more of a family friendly atmosphere and probably wouldn’t appeal to the pre-clubbing crowd so much. Next time I’m in the Bradford area visiting my in-laws I’m definitely making a trip back to Mumtaz’s. One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!

I’ve been a few times, with colleagues and friends. Each time the waitors have been thin on the ground and then unattentive and rude and it took ages catching their attention to get our drinks order in. The pilau savoury rice was awful. Had I known they put cardamons in it, i’d have avoided it, most Pakistani people make normal pilau rice which is far nicer — the rice you get at weddings. The dishes were small but acceptable. The foods not overly expensive about average. The best thing was the starters. The atmosphere is a little better than another famous resturant here but what is wrong with Asian waitors. A service with a smile wouldn’t go a miss and it’d make the experience more pleasant.

Mumtaz Bradrford, Having visited many indian restaurants round the west yorkshire area we found mumtaz to be over rated and over priced, lthe pickle tray was far too big for 2 people, the main courses were swimming in oil, Lamb kahari was tasteless, rice and roti were good, found it odd that a meat free dish should be more expensive than a lamb dish, does’nt come close to AKBARS or SAFFRON

It keeps going good this place even after some 18 years or so, and it is a well known brand both here in the UK and even in Pakistan. They supply food to airlines also. but the restaurant is as good as ever, the food, service and atmosphere are still there. Nice menu, a bit pricier than some of the competition, and not licensed either(not sure if they allow BYO), but the place is a quality well laid out establishment and a firm favourite for many. However when you eat good quality traditional asian food somehow beer would spoil the experience and lessen the flavours of the sauces. You could have a drink before going there. Being the greedy bugger that I am when I go somewhere like this I always have three courses and everyone of them are usually excellent. There’s loads of extras to take away also: pickles, sweets, spices and even handbags for constant shopoholic types of female.

Second to none in Bradford, and that’s saying something. It is more expensive than your average ‘curry house’, but has a number of similarly up market competitors which are not nearly as good.

The Daddy. Does not put a foot wrong unless you can not eat a curry without alcohol. Has a attended car park directly opposite the restaurant. They have spent a fortune on the décor. Was been touted as the largest Indian in Europe at one time. On to the important stuff –the food. Huge selection includign catering for the asian community not pandering to Westerners plenty of dishes on the bone if you want it. Does not cost the erth and ca not be beaten.

Possibly my favourite Indian restaurant ever! The décor is modern contemporary and the atmosphere vibrant and friendly. The food is superb and the menu is substantial. Certified halal, it’s great for those on a halal diet. There is also a strict no alcohol rule, making it ideal again for those on a halal diet or those who are t-total. As well as the main meals, the desserts are delicious and they offer sheesha in various flavours too! The staff are friendly and professional too. I also love the bathrooms at Mumtaz — i’m sure they’re fit for a queen. In fact, the Queen herself ate a Mumtaz meal whilst visiting Bradford not so long ago. Great quality food at premium prices. So not cheap!

Highly respected Indian restaurant in Bradford. Well known and has a range of their food in Morrisons as ready meal take-away options. Also can’t be bad if it has the royal seal of approval. Lush looking premises and lovely food. Non-licenced restaurant

Quite simply, an astonishingly good Indian restaurant. Perhaps the most obvious testament to its quality is the wide diversity of people who use it. One of it’s distinguishing features is that is doesn’t serve alcohol(or at least it didn’t when we went) — we felt it made for a more authentic experience, although neither of us are big drinkers anyway. The place is unashamedly commercial(if you liked your dish you can buy more on the way out to enjoy later at home), and I see they’ve now got contracts to supply curries to some of the bigger supermarket chains — but when you’re good I suppose that sort of thing will happen. All in all, highly recommended.

A lovely curry house. Has won plenty of awards. Quite expensive here though, so best suited to going for a special treat. Great for children too, with a good menu for them aswell. Friendly staff and tasty food.

This is such a wonderful restaurant that has won many awards far and wide. Though not asian and not an expert my asian friends say this tastes just like the real thing. The wierd thing about this restaurant is the fact that it is inside an asian supermarket which you wouldnt even know was there because it is only advertised as a restaurant. Everything you eat in the restaurant is available to buy from the supermarket which is good. The food is presented really different from other restaurants — it seems to be all about presentation and getting you to then buy the goods in the supermarket too as everything is named and tagged so you know exactly what to buy. The prices are very dear but the food is wonderful and such an experience it makes a very good night out.

What a fantastic place. Best menu I have seen for some time and the food is in a different class to 99% of other Indian restaurants. From first walking in through to leaving; the full experience is nothing but pure pleasure. When I first visited I thought I was in the wrong place as the entrance leads you through to their own mini shopping centre which offers their own branded goods of everything possible you could think of i.e. all ingredients, quick and microwave meals, ready cook sauces, pickles, spices etc ect ect Just everything. They even have their own fishmonger counter. I have never seen anything like this before and you would really need to see it to believe it. Once seated instead of the usual three or four pickles you normally get with popadom’s this place gives you about eight and some of them I have never come across before, I asked the waiter what one of them was and he picked the pickle up and pointed out that the label was underneath each one on the tray, so not only you knew what they were but so you could buy some on the way out if you wished. The food is to die for. This is a brief review of what I could rabble on about but I recon you get the gist!

A restaurant with traditional Kashmiri cuisine. A very nice place to dine in. A very comfortable environment, tasty and affordable food. For all those students coming from the Asian countries(esp. Pakistan/India) would definately enjoy the food that tastes almost same as the food back home.
