The manager explained they use to take cards, but then got tax bill for parts. That is fair enough, but he needs to do something about his mechanics LYING to customers & inflating prices. I would've gone to lumb lane tyres had I known, there was a chance of me remaining their customer as many times u don't want to take a damaged car a few miles. There are many reasons not to take card payments which i understand, but that's besides the point; they need to be up front about it rather than duping customers.
Although the manager is a nice guy, I think he needs to do something about his mechanics messing customers about. Champion Motor Spares got the suppliers to refund the incorrect part in the end, which they shouldn't have even bolted on. Lying about taking card payments is however well out of order, I suggest he reprimands colleagues &puts up a notice so customers don't get cheated.
The blatant lie when booking that they take card was out of order, as was overcharging for parts which are available for ||£50 less. If i can get them prices, then im sure they can too! Gave different quotes, but then the manager settled the original £100 for clutch fitting. however, they fitted the wrong part [dual mass] and scratched it meaning i had to wait 2 weeks for a refund of £89.00 from Champion Motor Spares who supplied the wrong part. There was no need for them to fit it on, or use trial and error as one has a spring. The mechanics should've known just by looking, this same mechanic said it would be £150 labour for 'dropping the sub-frame'. And also said 'Yes, we do take credit cards' even though they don't. The correct part [solid mass] was procured for £140 which I find excessive, as I did not receive a receipt or any box/details that it is a better brand. It seems they just made up their original costs for labour. I only got one call to ask me this, and I understand the car is open. However, the call for it being ready was 90 minutes later
