First time here(both Prezzo not just the Bournemouth outlet and must say, very impressed. Certainly not your usual Italian«chain» restaurant but, having looked in to their history now am not too surprised In 2000 the first Prezzo restaurant was opened in Central London by Jonathan Kaye. There are now around 150 Prezzo restaurants operating within the UK including 13 within London. Prezzo commonly converts old buildings of architectural value from their old purposes into Prezzo restaurants. Jonathan, is the son of Reginald Kaye and nephew of Philip Kaye. Both these men were in the restaurant industry themselves with the Golden Egg café in the 1960s(I have to admit I do remember this chain lol) and Italian restaurants Garfunkel’s and Deep Pan Pizza, both now sold to Restaurant Group. PreZo looks like it’s continuing the families love affair with the«chain» restaurant idea

Yes, it is a chain, but in my view — based on limited experience — perhaps the most faithful of the faux-Italian places to the true taste of Italy. Good pasta, wood-fired pizza, and some fairly authentic a la carte dishes. The exclusively Italian wine list contained some good stuff, including a blockbusting Sicilan house merlot at 14%. The Bournemouth branch is beautifully furnished, is immaculately kept, and has an excellent bar feature with all its wines on view. The serving staff(not Italian) were helpful and friendly, the service prompt.
