Excellent service and lovely staff. Its always pretty busy at the peak times but not manic. There is a steady stream of people and for 3 of us with 3 meals and 3 drinks it was under £30 which I think is good value. You get a choice of 4 meats and they will happily give you a bit of each. All of the meat was beautifully cooked as was the veg. It was all piping hot and the gravy was delicious. The Yorkshire puddings are mahoosive! And are definitely home made. Keiron was our main waiter for the night and he was lovely and chatty. In fact all the staff were. I live in Glasgow but make sure I come here every trip home as its quite hard to find a carvery my way as they all seem to be out in the sticks. One wee gripe is I would have liked a hotter plate but I’m sure that’s down to some silly health and safety rule or something because you carry the plate yourself.

This pub/restaurant has reinvented itself recently. It has been a fairly standard Brewers Fayre for as long as I can remember, but has extended the building and become a Buffet Carvery. It seemed to me that you wouldn’t want to go there for just a drink, as the bar part is now little more than a waiting room for the restaurant. Once you reach your table you can choose to have a starter and/or dessert along with your carvery for a set price. You can choose a handful of traditional meals if you don’t want the carvery). We chose just to have the Carvery and, although I do have the appetite of several hungry builders’, I found I had more than enough food. You will be served your slices of turkey, ham, beef, pork or a little of each, you then add your own veggies, sauces and bits. The meat was superbly cooked and the vegetables were very fresh with a great choice. The Yorkshire Puddings were the size of Frisbees. It was very busy when we were there and everything was a little rushed, but if you value good food, lots of it, at a reasonable price above your ‘dining experience’ then it’s a top place.
