I always had this bad image of Scotts in my head as just a pub that large groups of men went in before heading to the football. However, I popped in last night with a couple of friends to catch a game on TV and I was pleasantly surprised with the entire environment. They must have upwards of 20TV’s in total, split across big screens for open areas and individual screens for the 10 or so booths. Also the staff are great, really friendly and chatty and keep the place clean and tidy. The most surprising thing about the whole night was the food. They have a pretty big menu and not just the average pub grub. I took the Full House Burger, which is a bacon cheeseburger with a breaded chicken fillet on top and dressed with tangy BBQ sauce — quality! Me and my friends then split 50 wings, which for £5.45 is pretty much unbeatable! All in all a great pub/kitchen experience watching the footy, washed down with a few good beers!

Scotts provided the backdrop for a bunch of drinks on a cold wet night while in town for the Bolton Wanderers match across the street at the Reebok. To our delight, my mate and I got two cocktails for £5. This was a gift/curse as we consumed many of them while we were here. This only added to the enjoyment we experienced on this random Saturday night. What we witnessed was a patron borrowing the bars microphone and proposing to his girlfriend in the booth to the right of the bar. Curious, I walked to the far side of the bar to see her reaction and while I maintain she said no, which was indicated by her shaking her head and having an unpleasant scour on her face, I was later told she said yes. Still, I doubt it. Again, to our surprise, there was a lot of stuff happening this night, that made not only for an enjoyable night here, but also great people watching, a friendly bar staff, cheap drinks and a decent hangover the next morning.
