Olympus Fish & Chip Restaurant

Having tried one chippy here in Bolton, we decided to try this one out since we were going to be close to the restaurant. I have always seen the takeaway buzzing, but had never been into the restaurant. It was fairly busy and service seems a bit hit and miss. The host seemed to be very good at charming the usuals, but the rest of the staff don’t seem to share his enthusiasm.
The décor is interesting… some parts dated, some parts seeming a bit more modern. It also seems a bit posh for the the fact that it is fish and chips. You can browse the menu at your table, but you have to go to the cash register to order and pay. However, they will bring the food to you. As we were looking at the menu, I was a bit taken aback by the prices. I think that this is the most expensive place that I have had fish and chips at. And I think the one that is closest to that price was an awesome chippy in London, but I expect that from London. They have different combinations, some of them including bread, some with mushy peas, but the portion size, while maybe a bit more manageable, doesn’t really match those of my favourite places where I would pay about 5 – 7 quid less (and that is for two people). There are also other items on the menu if fish and chips don’t excite you. The people next to us had pie and chips and a burger and chips.
If you order fish and chips, you won’t be waiting very long at all. I had just gotten back to the table after ordering and our meals arrived. I guess when the place is always busy, it means you’ll get your food pretty quickly! The food was good, but it is not the best I have had. The chips were actually a bit soggy and not very hot. The fish was ok, but the batter just seemed like it was missing something and it wasn’t very crispy either. I’m not a fan of mushy peas, so it wouldn’t be right for me to try and evaluate them. Overall, it was ok, but for the price, it just seemed a bit much.

Always super busy with the highest service. You won’t find better fish and chips in area. Their tatar sauce is freshly made as well. Worth to recommend. It’s a shame its closed on Sundays.

la comida típica inglesa yo es el fish and chips y aquí son unos «pofeshionals» que verdad. Situado al lado de la estación de tren y la futura estación de autobuses, es muy fácil de encontrar. Tienen un comedor muy grande con mucho personal en el que te atienden de manera muy rápida, agradable y diligentemente.
Es un poco más caro que los otros locales del estilo, pero vale la pena pagar un poquito más por la calidad.
En la parte de a fuera tienen una zona de take away. Las raciones son generosas… y a pesar de ello siempre te quedas con ganas de más!
para nosotros es prácticamente una parada obligatoria cuando venimos. yum! :)

Olympus is a fantastic fish and chip restaurant. We go here whenever we are in Bolton and from them opening the door and helping you with your coat (immediately impressed) to them bringing your food within minutes the whole experience is great. The prices can be a little expensive for the portion sizes however the quality is undeniable. During my many visits I have had tasted the teacakes, sandwiches, fish and chips and chicken and chips all cooked to perfection and have enjoyed the home made apple pie and custard, which was delicious. It’s a great place and they even have a pianist to entertain you once a week! If you ever visit Bolton, you must check it out!

Having visited it after a twenty year respite (don’t ask me why, I just never got round to it), was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Went in the week before Christmas and despite the super busy restaurant, the hotel manager was doing his rounds, playing the perfect host. Oh, and the food was pretty hot too (delicious crispy battered fish, fresh off the fryer chips with creamy, mushy peas). One of my favourite places in Bolton. Super like! #Olympus

Having tried fish and chips all over the world, Olympus by far is the best!
Not just because of the very high quality of (very decently priced) food, and their mind blowing home made tartare sauce, but because of their really high quality customer service. All of the staff seem genuinely happy to talk to you and help you, and even go as far as little things like helping you put your coat on when they see you’re ready to leave.
The owners themselves often are seen helping in the restaurant, properly hands on, and often chat to the customers, which is pleasant to see.
Also, the venue itself is very pleasant. It’s a proper restaurant rather than a «chippy» or «café», and is decorated in a modern but comfortable style, so it’s bright and airy with nice modern furniture. It has a lovely atmosphere, often playing pleasant music, and sometimes even employing a pianist to play on the restaurants own grand piano, which is very pleasant when enjoying your lunch!

We have been visiting the Olympus Fish & Chip Restaurant in Bolton for a number of years now and have to say that their personal attention and service are second to none. Their fish and chips are superb and I would recommend that you pay them a visit asap. I can assure you that you will be impressed and will call again and again.

Had a good breakfast here, cheap sausages, and only one of everything. but cheap, and included a brew.

Don’t want to eat in. The Olympus Take away is situated next to the restaurant. Eat fish and chips the good old fashion British way.
Olympus can cater for parties of all sizes and for a variety of events.
So you need something, Ask them.

The best fish and chips in the area, it’s a little pricey but you pay for quality!
I recommend Olympus to everyone.

I only ever order the chicken and chips from here, but it is excellent, if some what pricey. The staff are great in the take-​away section, always polite and friendly, real service with a smile. Have only been in the eat-​in section once a couple of years back, but as I recall the service was fantastic here too, although it was even more expensive than the take-​away section. Having said that, the food was certainly worth the price!

Fantastic. a real old style fish and chip restaurant.

This place is split into two halves the ‘take away’ part and the eat-​in restaurant. The restaurant is fantastic, it’s clean, furnished nicely and it has ample seating without making you feel as if you’ve been crammed inside.
The staff are attentive, polite and courteous really paying attention to good old fashioned customer service, just like it should be but in most places sadly isn’t! Also their uniform makes them look distinctive and professional.
The food is good old English chippy food and good at that. portions aren’t overtly large however but will suffice and keep you ticking over until your next meal.
THis is the perfect place to go for any occasion irregardless of who you’re with and the massive cross-​section of customers prooves this from families, to couple, people on their own and the elderly (they do cracking OAP deals)
However, the only downside is the extortionate price and how much it has jumped up over the past few years, as in serious increase not small sneaking ones. In a word, it’s ‘expensive’. If you want a special treat this is the place but if you’re feeling the pinch, i’d suggest getting takeaway (although in my opinion 55p for a barm cake is a bit over the top!)

This place is flawless. perfect food, the nicest staff you could possibly have (where else nowadays opens the door for you on arrival and departure and helps you with you coat??) its just the best fish and chip restaurant in bolton and is an essential visit if you are hungry and in town!!!
everyone should visit here
