Very nice restaurant serving fantastic Italian food. I had Fileto Al Pepe which was very nice indeed, very tasty and a big portion. The veg on a platter is also a unique touch so you can help yourself on how much you want. The young waitresses are very good and ensure you have a good meal. One aspect I didn’t like was that it appeared the manager or owner was very bullish with one young waitress in front of the customers which wasn’t very professional on his side. She didn’t really appear to do much wrong in the first place. Overall the food is good and reasonably priced, large portions and good hospitality. Would recommend to others.

I’ve been eating at La Scala for many years. In my view it’s the best Italian in our area. Their pasta is always ‘al dente’ and their pizzas have lovely thin crispy bases and tasty toppings. A full range of a la carte starters, main courses and sweets is also on offer together with a changing list of specials. The staff are helpful and knowledgable and the ambience is good. What more do you need for a perfect Italian?

After my scathing comments about Prosecco, another Italian restaurant, La Scala, produced yet another good evening last Saturday. The place is a local favourite, it has a bit of a buzz and always feels welcoming and there is genuine warmth from all the staff. The restaurant itself is nicely set out with enough space between the tables so that you don’t feel hemmed in. The food is good with a wide selection but the starter specials do run out early and I’m probably one of the few who will complain about the portion sizes– they are too big! A gourmet may complain that the food is too Anglicised, but hey, we are in Bolton not Bologna, and I ate much worse Italian food in Rome last month. To summarise, a good place to go as a group to eat well, drink and be merry without having to take out a bank loan.

The menu is good and can’t fault the quality of the food. The service though leaves alot to be desired. My main gripe is it always seems they are trying to get you in and out in the shortest possible time. On a couple of occasions whilst still eating our entres, they’ve brought our mains to the table, tried to serve them and then seemed put out when we ask for more time to enjoy our starters. Then obviously same re-heated main brought back out. Again same issue at the end of the meal, whilst enjoying our bottle of wine, pestered for desert and then bill brought to our table un-requested. Try not to sit in the back of the restaurant, it can get uncomfortably warm. All that said food is good and we keep going back every know and then.

La Scala is lovely place and they cater well for birthdays and special occasions. The food is lovely and the staff are all very friendly. Real, traditional Italian food at affordable prices make La Scala a joy to go to. I always look forward to going and eating the food, which is always lovely.

This is one of my favourite Italians in Bolton. The food is incredible in here and everything seems authentic. The décor is stunning and the waiters are good looking ;-) All the staff are very polite in here and work very hard to keep the customers happy. All the tables are very clean in here and the menu is huge. You always get big helpings on your plate. I sometimes can’t finish my meal because you get so much! This place is quite expensive but it is defiantly worth paying a bit more to eat In here.
