Called in for a snack lunch on Saturday 15th January, the Badger beer was excellent, bar service was friendly. Not a ponced up pub which is nice for those of us that can remember what village pubs were really like i. e even the locals speak to you. Two soups,(honeyed turnip), fish cakes and a serving of Nachos with chilli was ordered and all was excellent, nicely presented, the fish cakes were large and full of real fish and if anything the helping of Nachos was on the large side. At just a tad over £17.00 for the food, the four of us, all well experienced pub food eaters, thought it very good value for money. Perhaps one criticism would be that it took over 40 minutes from ordering to being served eventhough there were not a lot of diners, but the good beer and intelligent conversation helped pass the time. My only regret is that living in Lincolnshire means that we will not be able to visit often.

I have been here a few times, not by choice, but by necessity. The meals always lacked the main and best ingredient. A beef casserole could have been mistaken for oxtail soup, seriously, I was still waiting for the meat and veg when I was told«that’s it !» The other sad occasion I tried a mixed grill, I think it was a «boil in the bag» one. It all tasted the same. I nearly tripped over kids toys on the way out, never again(until a change of management) I have spoken to others who have been here and they have experienced the same. My teenage daughter could do a better job !
