We visited the takeaway section a little while ago and having ordered and paid for our fish and chips the fire alarm went off. We had to wait outside for 10 minuets until the fire brigade arrived while we was waiting the manager came over and apologised for the situation and once back in the shop he gave us a full refund and our fish and chips :-)

Since living in the UK, there’s been a constant mantra that I’ve heard: If you want good Fish and Chips you have to go to the North.(To be fair, it’s made mostly by Northerners.) Since we were in Blackpool for the weekend, I decided Fish and Chips was a definite requirement, and since the majority of restaurants in Blackpool were absolutely frightening looking from the outside, we went to Harry Ramsden’s. It’s a fairly big restaurant, so it was quite easy to walk in on a Saturday afternoon and get a table. The service is great, as they woman seating us gave us a large table so that we could put all of our stuff(including a trombone) in the seating next to us. And since we were only two, it was especially nice of her to use that much space for us. We both had fish and chips, because that’s what you should have at a fish and chips restaurant. Now to be fair, it was a little bit better than our local place back in Enfield. The fish was well cooked and had a crispy, tasty batter. The chips weren’t soggy. The mushy peas were fairly average. There wasn’t enough tartare sauce for my liking, and I’m sure I could have asked for more, but the service wasn’t that attentive. So good Fish and Chips but hardly the best(that is still reserved for a place in Cornwall). I think I’m still on the lookout for that perfectly amazing Fish and Chips in the UK.

When it comes to the British staple that is fish’n’chips, nobody does it better than the World Famous Harry Ramsden’s. I was in the UK’s most famous seaside town, Blackpool, and when you’re by the seaside and hungry one meal comes to mind; fish and chips. Being a seaside town, Blackpool obviously has hundreds of options for this meal but several people had recommended Harry’s to me so of course I had to try it to see what all the fuss was about. The restaurant is right on the seafront and the décor is quintessential early 20th century. It makes you feel like you’re on the set of Boardwalk Empire or pre-WW2 Britain. Combined with the great sea views, it’s the nostalgic seaside experience you always wish for. For me, when it comes to classic fish and chips I usually go with the cod and it didn’t disappoint. The batter is light, golden and crispy which keeps the white meat of the fish light and flavoursome. The British Maris Piper thick-cut chips are fantastic and I even enjoyed the mushy peas, which I usually detest! It tastes even better than it looks and I would probably go as far as to say that it’s the best cod and chips I’ve ever had. For the quality of food you get, under £10 per person is a steal as it’s a meal you’re sure to remember!

if America had fish and chips as fast food in AMerica on every corner. this is the company that would do it. though, it is the best tasting fish and chips i’ve had before. there is normally one of these every few towns so if you ever get a chance to eat here. go for it! it’s delicious.

Overpriced rubbish. Tastes like they need to change the oil! Some much better fish and chip shops in Blackpool.

It’s fish and chips but not as we know it! Higher prices smaller portions. The food is good but quite a lot of fish and chip shops can match it and can do it much cheaper. I remember the original Harry Ramsdens it didn’t serve cod funny enough but all it’s food was good, plenty of it, at fair prices

I tripped out here… in a corner of UK right by the water that feels kind of… forgotten. But we came here to see the site of the famous ballroom competitions. Both got large orders of their fish/chips, because who said that Brits don’t have any kind of cuisine at all?! It was great! One of these memories and meals to remember, y’know? Even early-onset dementia ain’t gonna shake the tucked-away golden memory of fun times here @ Ramsdens. Solid fish/chips. Very, very good.

Blackpool is like a trip to the 1950s. The only difference is that the young children playing on the beach have all turned old and gray. The hotels have turned old and gray. One of the only thing that retains it’s shimmer is Harry Ramsden’s fish and chips. Brilliant is all I can say. Go with the cod rather than haddock. You will feel the years of Blackpool melt away.

We visited in October half term and having read some other reviews I must admit feeling a bit wary. We arrived at about 5.15pm which was a mistake! I would recommend you get here about 4.30 — 5pm as we ended up queuing for 40 minutes! However the staff were very efficient and they cleared the tables and reset them very quickly. The system was well organised and worked well and they are obviously used to having a packed restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and our food arrived quickly and was delicious. The children’s menu was good — they had pizza and chips and ice cream and they both said it was the best meal they had ever eaten! You could get an alcoholic drink as well as the usual hot and soft drinks too. My husband and I had fish and chips meal and our bill came to less than £30 for the 4 of us. A good deal.

This is a large branch of Harry Ramsden’s and it’s very handy, right on the prom and not far from the Tower. They have a take-out section and also a proper sit-down restaurant. I do like the quality, but sadly I find this particular branch to be quite badly run. The place is always busy, but they have a whole section out the back that they usually keep closed. I’ve known people queueing for ages to get in — and there’s very little space to queue in! I’ve seen people waiting outside in the pouring rain on the Prom and they still won’t open the area at the back! I don’t know why they even bother to have that area if they’re never going to use it — why pay the extra rent?! There’s plenty of fish and chip places in Blackpool — I’d go to one which treats its customers more respectfully that this chain!
