The amount of times I have been caught out with not having change for the bus or running out of tobacco whilst I’m dashing from place to place actually seems to have multiplied lately… Despite being more organised that ever, I am always been caught out by having note money(rather than change) when I’m popping somewhere or just desperately need a drink in between meetings… This is where places like Zambi come in very handy. Now, I’m not going to waffle on too much — but I will give you the basics. Zambi is one of a handful(maybe two or three) newsagents on the main stretch of Digbeth. It sells the normal range of newspapers and magazines as well as a selection of sweets, ice creams, snacks, soft drinks and tobacco. It’s hard to judge the customer service very accurately(as it’s always an in and out jobby), but I’ve always been greeted and served politely and respectfully. They seem to have quite a decent range of magazines(which is handy if you’re using the coach station) and I’ve never had anything that’s been out of date(a more common than you’d think complaint about small newsagents) or been short changed. This isn’t the kind of place you would make a dash to visit, but if you are caught short(or just need something to read before a coach journey), you will probably find what you need at this newsagents.
