Sampad are the development agency for South Asian arts in Birmingham. Not limited to Birmingham, however, their experience and critical acclaim means that they are one of the best-​known South Asian arts development organisations in the UK.
I’ve not seen a sampad performance that hasn’t been anything other than fantastic, to be honest. From music to dance to theatre, any sampad-​related show is pretty much guaranteed to be high quality.
sampad has now been around for 20 or so years, and has delivered an extraordinary range of diverse artistic displays of practice within that time, as well as delivering an OBE to its founder, Piali Ray. It’s good to see that sampad is housed back in the MAC again: I’m looking forward to seeing some more top-​class performances from their artists.
