When is a shop not a shop? When it’s an Emporium! Rather than just one trader, Mr Bird’s is more of a collective bringing you several traders all under one roof. Not just items though, Mr Bird’s is also a hub for events and cultural goings on — making it well worth checking out this little gem pretty regularly. If, like me, you are pretty picky about your«Vintage clothing»(with some places using Vintage as an excuse for plain olé’ second hand boringness), you’ll love Mr Birds. With a discerning choice of fashions(in *shock horror* a range of sizes), you’re guaranteed to find something that takes your fancy. Hosting markets at the Custard Factory, this place is a real gem for the community around Digbeth. High Concept, Some High Fashion; but not always high prices! That’s just the way I like it!

I visited this shop after attending a vintage fair in the area, determined to purchase some vintage jewellery and I was in luck! Picking up some earrings and a gold necklace from two separate traders. I found each of the traders to be friendly and chatty, keen to tell you about the wares they had on offer. This lovely shop houses jewellery, men’s and women’s clothing, and other items. I was transported back in time after coming across some items from my childhood! A vintage lovers paradise that is based with the Custard Factory community. Well worth a visit.

So like a permanent vintage festival? That’s how I imagined @Mrbirdsemporium and now that I have visited, it pretty much is like that, but more compact! There are 10 different traders, mostly vintage, some up-cycling and handmade. It’s a good concept and I for one really hope it works. Every trader I spoke to was friendly, enthusiastic and willing to work hard so that’s got to be worth the visit alone! It’s also ripe for fashion shows, cinema events(with the Library Theatre across the way, and joint food and music events. Very much looking forward to Mr Birds becoming part of Birmingham’s regular shopping haunts.
