If you are looking for a sophisticated watering hole then I’d suggest you’d give this one a miss, but if you suitable merry and looking for somewhere to have a good laugh and dance then I’d say this place is for you. I have been coming here on and off for many years and I have had some great nights here, but also some dire ones. I last visited on Monday night and it was busier than it was when I’d frequent it often last year and the music was slightly better. It plays outrageously loud pop and dance remixes which doesn’t make for easy listening but after a few tequila’s, spinning around the dance floor like a whirling dervish to them is definitely good fun! There is a time and place for everything and that includes Missing. I couldn’t give it any more than 3 stars because other than on a Monday night when it is £1 on selected drinks, I find the prices to be extortionate in comparison to the venue. It’s a shame because it draws a very mixed crowd on the weekend and I have had some good times in there but usually as a stop over on the way to another venue.

Missing is on the main ‘run’ of the gay quarter. Over the last couple of years it has had a few management changes and a few refurbs. It’s current state is probably the best it has been for a while. This is one the more ‘trendy’ bars and tends to attract a few of the bitchy queens of the scene. That said the club itself provides a good night with a variety of music and regular live acts. Its not a big club and does get crowded especially when they have an event of some kind on. Overall it’s an ok bar, nothing special but its certainly possible to have a good night out there.

Tacky, dreary. But a must, just for the cheap drinks and centrality of the gay scene.

I sometimes go here with my friends. I often spend a lot of money here, I would advise if you want to go to go on monday when its £1 drinks otherwise you will end up spending a lot of money

On the corner of Hurst Street, you can always have a good laugh and dance in The Missing. The place has a large selection of drinks, very good dance, and pop music, which runs most of the day, and late into the early hours of the morning. You’ll find yourself spending a lot of time in here. Popular on the Birmingham Gay scene, but I also have straight friends who like to mingle in here! The refurb of this place has given it a much needed uplift and cabaret acts are always lining up to make you laugh. Upstairs also has a bar and lounge which can be hired for private functions. The crowd is mixed, students, old and young trendier folk, and to be honest, all are welcome in here, regardless whether your gay or not. Busy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and most nights there is a theme or camp entertainment to be had. 2 Friday’s ago, I called in here with friends to see Go-Go dancers strutting there stuff on the bar, wearing only hot-pants, not leaving a lot to the imagination… haha.

If you are feeling tired but don’t want to waste your weekend at home, maybe you will need to go somewhere to cheer you up. I think Missing Bar can do the trick! In the heart of the Gay Village, more precisely on the corner of Bromsgrove St and Hurst St, its bar with a friendly façade hides all wind atmosphere from this pub inside. Small round tables, dark wooden floor and a small stage ready for some performances reminds a french cabaret in a way. Not tacky but stylish, I should say. The music is full on– Madonna old and new hits, never goes wrong– and that dance floor gets pretty mad at the effervescent weekend nights, for sure! To summarise it, it doesn’t matter if it’s still early in the evening or you just popped up there for a drink or two, the 24⁄7 party atmosphere makes Missing Bar a find indeed! Good selection of beers, free Wi-Fi and predominantly gay crowd are still unbeaten!

Hmmmm, Missing. It would be so easy to say ‘it’s missing something’ but let’s not be too negative. Part of Birmingham’s main gay run, Missing is a smaller bar/club than most but doesn’t let that stop it from shouting out its loud and proud status. The last time I visited in late 2011 was a Saturday night at about 6/half 6 — I was there for two hours and it genuinely felt like it was past midnight, such was the full-on nature. The DJ was already spinning tunes very loudly(prepare for cheese, dance and a Lady Gaga remix or four) and the crowd, although it wasn’t very busy at this time, was shaking its collective bootie to ‘Glee’ songs on the dancefloor. If this sounds like your idea of hell, you’d probably be best to avoid. However, if you’re up for a laugh, it offers a fun diversion and probably less of the ‘sceney’ attitude from other establishments in the gay quarter.

Missing is a bar with fairly late night opening hours in the heart of the gay ‘village’ around Hurst St, Birmingham — whilst it’s on Bromsgrove St, it is adjacent to Hurst St. Most of the clientele is gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, bicurious, the rest are gay friendly. It’s a lively bar, with regular entertainment, such as karaōke and drag acts. It can be a noisy place, though people are reasonably friendly, and the service varies from OK to great.
