Really hard to find but really worth looking for. The cupcakes are beautiful and you can tell a lot of time and effort has been put into making them. It is a very cute place to have a chat with friends and appreciate the wonderful baking! It is also wonderful that it helps homeless people in getting back on their feet.

If there’s one thing I like to think I know about it is cake. Like I would pick cake as my specialist subject if I were to appear on an alternate universe version of Mastermind. I will mostly rate a place based on their cake and how child-friendly they are, and Frost & Snow delivered on both counts. We’ll ignore the fact that it is entirely out of place walking through what appeared to be the lobby of some swanky apartment buildings to get to the store, because what lies beyond is rows and rows of beautifully crafted cakes. Like, they make frosting an art-form. And not in a Primrose Hill style, teetering stack of icing on top of not enough mediocre cake style. An actual decent cake to frosting ratio, delicious cake, decently priced and beautiful swirly sprinkled bits. And, like I said, child-friendly always gets brownie-points(and all kinds of other delicious baked goods-points). So when my three year old observed the counter full of rainbow coloured creations and pouted because he was hoping to find a blue one, the staff offered to whip him up a blue frosted cake and I practically unloaded a truckload of praise on the place. Then I come home and check out their website(which is surely a failing on my part in 21st century consumerism, but whatever) and see all the good work Frost & Snow are doing with the homeless and am more than impressed. I would definitely recommend you visit, both for the sugar rush and the warm charitable glow that ensue. Good for cupcakes, great with kids. In need of a cheer-up? I’d definitely prescribe a visit.

If i wanted to have secret hideout i’d put it in this coffee shop. Out the way and hard to find, not even a sign outside. Cupcakes getting made by homeless people and it seems like a good idea, as opposed to getting cupcakes made by people who are about to be homeless in other independent stores. Looks ok inside, cant shake the fact homeless people either have the option of selling big issues or making cupcakes and that must suck really bad.

For the past 2 years I’ve had to put up with constant banging and crashing outside my apartment as they were converting the old homeless hostel next door into, would you believe it, a cupcake factory?! Now, finally, the doors of Frost and Snow are open to the public. Unfortunately it’s not the greatest of locations and the café is easily absorbed into the front of the building; it’s hardly noticeable to passers by. Still, they’ve done a good job and it looks lovely inside. A decent café on this road is much needed as you’ll agree if you’ve read my previous review of The Green Room or been unlucky enough to visit there. I’m sure with a bit of good marketing, trade will be booming in no time. So pop in if you’re down this way and drink your coffee safe in the knowledge that you’re doing something good as this bakery is a joint venture between Frost and Snow and Midland Heart, to integrate homeless people back into the community.
