One of my favourite restaurants in Brum. Romantic setting so it’s a great place to take your partner or have a sophisticated family dinner. Brought to you by Lasan group who have done amazing things for the food scene in Birmingham. Have the steak and don’t look back.

I went there for dinner, and I didn’t like their food. The staff are so friendly, nice and provided a 5 star service. The starters were so good, however I really didn’t like their main courses. I ordered a spaghetti and it tasted so weird.

My mom was visiting and we decided to go back to Asado for lunch time. Everything was absolutely delicious, like always. Service is really attentive, always refilling the tap water, checking if everything is ok without being intrusive, recommending both food and wine. My mom had the sea bass — stunning! Grilled fish with potatoes, vegetables and salad with chimichurri sauce. It was so massive she couldn’t finish it. I had the veggie pasta, as usual, it was perfect, and my partner had the costilla, a massive 40oz piece of meat garnished with salad, Malbec sauce, chimichurri and something similar to hollandais sauce. We had three glasses of wine, Malbec. As starter we had pimientos del padrón. As a dessert — we love sugar!- we had two of the dulce de leche pancakes. We paid around £110 for a totally worth it meal and a lovely lunch time. I’ll go back for sure.

Lovely hidden gem of Birmingham. It’s a real treat to see an Argentinean restaurant in Birmingham. It’s located on Hagley road which has a lovely selection of restaurants ranging from Indian, Persian and Pub Grub! I indulged in Whitebait as a started, which were very crispy and fresh, a squeeze of lemon juice goes a long way, as it takes out the sharpness of the salt of the Whitebait. I also indulged in a lovely dark, fruity red wine. They have a great selection wether you’re a Red or Rose lover. I decided to go for the Sea Bass accompanied with garlic potatoes and a fresh salad. The fish was cooked to perfection and coated in a light batter served whole. The plate was full of a intense fusion of flavours including, garlic, fresh lemon, and the crunchiness of the salad which included peppers. The atmosphere was very warm, great parking if you’re driving too. Unfortunately I didn’t have room for a dessert but never the less definitely try this flavoursome Argentinean cuisine.

This is one of my top picks in Birmingham, especially for steak. We really enjoy dining here. It’s quite an intimate setting here. I like that the servers to do have some space between tables, so it doesn’t feel cramped though. The steak is what to go here for. That, and the fact that it seems to offer some some good wines to go with them. Including some unexpected argentinian wines that I wouldn’t normally look at on the menu. It’s a meat lovers paradise in more ways than one. The quality of the meat on offer, and the quantity that is served too. The service has always been good. We have never had an issue with that ourselves. Dietary requirements can be an issue. I suggest that you check out their menu online in advance. There isn’t a huge vegetarian or vegan offering.

Been meaning to come here since the Lasan guys took it over a couple of years back. Ok we like to walk to eateries and this one is 50 minutes walk from our place in the JQ. Worth it? Hell yeah. We came on World Malbec night(which we couldn’t do last year). Now, I’m not generally a mixed grill kind of guy(«we know» I hear you chorus) but this is no ordinary mixed grill. Did I mention that on this particular night you get to try half a dozen Malbecs(it’s World Malbec Day, remember? do try to keep up) before choosing the one that makes your boat floatiest. Amazing meat, lovely staff. Our guy said«just sit back and enjoy the night». So we did.

We visited this place even before it opened,(having won a heart radio date night) and have been back a few times, this is another of the fab meat eaters restaurants in town. My starter of tiger prawns in a spiced tomato sauce was perfect, not too big and packed full of spice flavour, served on a bed of rocket and lambs lettuce and had whole(head on) prawns. For our main we ordered a sharing mixed grill, generous chunks of steak with a beautiful blackened and seasoned outside to perfection with a juicy red inside, lamb chops on the bone, seasoned and still pink just like the beef steaks, chorizo sausages, smoked paprika sausages, this really is a meat eaters heaven, the option to add a fried egg was offered, we declined as we know how great the meat is. The really weird part was, as I arrived in the ample sized rear car park I checked into the fiesta on Unilocal and, for the first time for me, a voucher popped up, offering £10 off, upon entry i showed my phone to our server and she knew nothing of the offer, she then investigated and returned to inform us that although the offer was NOT valid that the restaurant would honour the voucher! Well done for not upsetting me, but what is going on? Anyways, fabulous food as always, great service, a little way outside of city centre but well worth travelling to and don’t be put off by the small front car park, there is a larger car park at the rear. Bring a date here and enjoy great food, it is in my top 10 of brum. It’s a pretty restaurant, much larger inside than it appears from outside with polished wood floors, candles on the tables and enough space between tables that you don’t feel crowded.

I’ve been meaning to visit Fiesta for ages, it’s had great reviews and a darn good check in offer too, although we didn’t use that this time. We came for my partner’s birthday, with his folks, and it was super cosy on a slightly snowy day. There’s a great vibe here, very warm and friendly, but also very service-conscious. It’s a meat lover’s paradise, with lots of lovely steak options and the biggest mixed grill I’ve seen(on someone else’s table, we weren’t up for that challenge just yet). My chicken wings starter was lovely, served with orange. Not actually being in a steak mood I followed with the sea bass– very, very nice indeed. And not just an option for smaller appetites– I ended up taking some home because there was so much. The main thing that was clear here though, as I’ve said, was that service is key. My partner had one of those very fatty cuts of meat that usually makes it very soft and flavourful. Unfortunately his was actually too fatty to eat. We informed the waitress who immediately ordered a replacement. We were then also approached by someone who I think was the manager who apologised, and also thanked us for bringing it to their attention– they can’t tell when cooking the steak if it will be too fatty, so they were appreciative of the feedback. They also took that meal from the bill. It’s good to know how much they care, and it was dealt with very promptly. I really liked it here, and I will be coming back, definitely.

So last Sunday we trekked on down to Fiesta del Asado for a spot of Sunday lunch. I was eagerly anticipating this as I’d never been and heard so many amazing things about it. You expect a certain degree of quality from a member of the Lasan group and Fiesta del Asado certainly does not disappoint. We were greeted warmly and even though we were an hour early we were invited to sit at the bar whilst they prepared our table. After a brief perusal of the drinks menu we ordered a bottle of wine then we were shown to our table very shortly after. We had already decided on the mixed grill to share for our mains so we started off with some chili and pepper baby squid and deep fried whitebait. The squid was some of the finest I’ve ever tasted. Succulent and tender with just the right amount of bite. Our mains arrived and almost as soon as a fork was knocked off the table it was replaced, the waiter seemed to show the stealth and grace of a ninja! The mixed grill was truly something to behold, two equally delicious types of steak, lamb chops, chicken wings and three types of sausage all cooked to absolute perfection. We had teamed this up with some superbly roasted veg, new potatoes in truffle cream(mmmm) and fries with garlic. All the sides were magnificent but the new potatoes really stole the sideshow. After all that we had a cursory glance at the dessert menu but could only manage a coffee — and that was more to stave off the wave of sleepiness that only comes from devouring that much meat. These guys know how to cook meat, we’ll be back soon. There’s a 40oz steak with our names on it!

What could be better on a Sunday afternoon after a trip to the Cinema than a delicious meal? After missing out on several chances to see the new Hobbit film before Christmas, myself and the ever lovely Dan D. decided we would head down to the Cinema on Sunday and then pop out for some food… But where to eat? After spotting Fiesta Del Asado’s January deal(download a voucher and take in an unwanted Christmas gift for £20 off your bill), a plan was hatched to head down to the this Argentinian restaurant off Hagley Road and grab our dinner. Hagley Road presents many different restaurant choices all offering a different style of cuisine to suit different budgets. Fiesta isn’t the cheapest of these options, but presents Argentinean food at a reasonable price. I had been down before(way back in October 2013), but was looking forward to seeing if this visit matched my previous experience. Firstly, it’s a bit of a trek from the City(but does offer parking and bus routes regularly service this area of Hagley Road). From the top of Broad Street it took us about 20 minutes to get there. We were booked in for 4:30(as we figured The Hobbit would be a pretty long film), but we actually ended up getting there a full hour before our booking. This didn’t seem to trouble the staff at all and once we arrived our coats were taken and we were sat at the bar to get a pre-dinner drink before being assigned a table. We opted for a bottle of white(quite reasonably priced at around £16) and contemplated the menu whilst we waited. I already knew that the mixed grill would be the way to go(as Dan hasn’t been before and it presents a great way to try a range of their different dishes), but we pondered on mains and sides to go with it. Once we were seated, we were presented with another menu to keep on deciding. It’s worth noting that the service was immaculate during our visit. The waiter noticed that the menu Dan was given was slightly tatty menu(with pages hanging out) and insisted on replacing it. Later on during the meal, I accidentally knocked my fork off of the table… This was whisked away by another member of staff and replaced with a fresh fork — all without me saying a word. For starters we went for the white bait(I remembered this was particularly tasty from my first visit) and the baby squid strips. These were both fantastic, but the squid was the star of the show. Cooked to perfection and coated in a very tasty spicy rub, it was superb. The mains were also faultless. The mixed grill contains two different cuts of beef, lamb cutlets, two chicken wings, three different types of sausage and a few roasted vegetables. To go with this we had opted for baby potatoes in a truffle sauce, skin on fries and roasted vegetables(peppers and butternut squash). The potatoes were sensational and all of the meat was cooked medium rare and was full of flavour. Once we had finally managed to finish our meal(which was no mean feat — but it was our only meal of the day), we were presented with the dessert menu. Neither of us could manage a sweet, but we did go for a coffee which was rich, hot and delicious. There was a slight mix up with our bill(a beer which we hadn’t ordered had been added), but this was solved swiftly and efficiently. Overall our meal(two starters, a main to share with three sides, a bottle of wine and two coffees) came to just over £60 with the voucher and a tip. The whole experience was fantastic and I am looking forward to taking more people to experience the delicious food of Fiesta Del Asado in the future!

This was my first dinner in Birmingham, and I thought everything but having an asado for dinner last night. However, the busy time of the year made impossible eating anywhere else in the town center. That’s when the providence came through. We found this restaurant whilst looking for a decent alternative in our hotel booklet, and I was amazed from the picture and nice description of the place all confirmed once arrived. As this restaurant is not in the town center, I knew that I would have found a place although when they took my reservation they gave me a time slot after 1 hour. Therefore, I strongly recommend you to reserve it especially during the weekend. Overall I am not regretting the choice: the asado was fantastic, the staff were very helpful and attentive, the atmosphere busy and vibrant, all wrapped with soft lights(and the buzz of the other guests). However, I cannot say the same for the lamb, which was overcooked and definitely too expensive for the quantity served(3 chops for £18). A note of disappointment for the lightness how salt was used in the kitchen. This was too much, and in fact during the night I had to wake up several time to drink water. The wine menu offers a good selection of bottles. I had the most expensive(in my life) bottle of red wine — A Masi Tupungato Valle de Uco. DELICIOUS! Overall I would judge this place 3.5 stars. However, as half votes are not allowed, so I would give this place the benefit of the doubt about the salty food as I believe this has been just a coincidence.

Back when it first opened, I went to Fiesta del Asado for a meal with family to celebrate my birthday and had a fantastic time. I’d been meaning to go back for a while, so when the opportunity to visit this Argentinean steakhouse again arose, I decided to see if it was as good as I remembered, literally by ordering the exact same three dishes as before. With a monsoon-like downpour releasing itself from the skies, it was nice to walk into a restaurant that felt warm, friendly and vibrant. As a contrast to when I visited years ago, all the tables were full, but the staff still checked our table was suitable — it was by a radiator and having been stood outside in the wind and rain, I considered it the best table in the house that night. We were given menus, which were reassuring familiar so I decided to see if they’d managed to sustain the excellent standards I’d experienced on my birthday and ordered the exact same three courses as before. After taking our orders, bread and vinegar and oil were brought to the table for us to nibble on before our starters arrived. I had the Chistorra Artysan, lean pork flavoured with smoked paprika and garlic. Pork and paprika are always a good combination and this was no different; the sausage had a nice texture and wasn’t too fatty, although had a lovely amber-oiliness from the paprika. Andrew had the Morcilla curada, a traditionally-smoked black sausage with paprika and sweet caramelised onion, which he too said had a nice flavour. For main I went for the grilled rack of lamb, Costillas de cordero. I like my lamb a little pink and I was pleased to see this is how it arrived — although last time I was here a family member requested for it to be cooked a little longer and they were happy to oblige. The lamb had a lovely seasoning which complimented rather than overpower, and the meat effortlessly came away from the bone. It was as good as I remembered. Andrew’s steak was also beautifully cooked too, medium-rare as he’d requested. We shared a portion of fries with parsley and garlic, and vegetables between us, which I think was ample given we were having three courses. For dessert it had to be the Santiago Tart which was a mix of almonds and amaretto that you’d think might be overkill but had a lovely flavour, and whilst the pastry was crisp I did find the filling a little sticky, which I’m not entirely sure I liked. Andrew’s empanada dessert was a little on the small side compared to my tart but plenty flavoursome. Whilst the weather outside may well have been frightful, the trip to Fiesta del Asado was indeed delightful. The atmosphere has a great sense of conviviality, the staff are hospitable and knowledgeable without being patronising, and the food is excellent. Similar to its sister venue Raja Monkey, this Argentinean steakhouse might not be located in the most interesting of places in Birmingham but it’s the sort of place you could happily spend the evening enjoying their hospitality.

On October 3rd we were looking for a nice restaurant. Fiesta was recommended however if you don’t have a reservation be prepared to be treated like manure by the short haired blond hostess and the manager will absolutely back her up. I have NEVER been treated as such. My friend ate his meal and I did not order anything. If this was my restaurant I’d fire both the hostess and that manager. As for the food, it was average according to my friend. Would I ever recommend the place? Absolutely not.
