This is a quirky little café right in the centre of Birmingham’s Moseley Village. I visited yesterday for a quick coffee before running off to a meeting. The place seems super friendly and the staff were chatting away to all the regulars that were dotted around the café during my visit. I ordered my latte and took a seat at the very cutely decorated tables with music themed bits laid out that give a creative feel to the space. This is a shop that fits in perfectly with the well designed and independent venues that line the streets of Moseley. Every time I visit I remember just how much I like the whole area! Even though I was doing a bit of running around yesterday this place made me feel instantly relaxed! One last thing that needs a mention… anywhere that plays Diana Ross during a visit is an instant winner in my book!

Had wanted to visit for some time and decided to take a friend with me who had come from London for the weekend. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon around 12noon. the décor was lovely and looked very kitsch. My friend asked for an extra hot latte and i asked for an americano. I was asked by the cashier whether it was black coffee or white. I said ‘black please’, to which the waiter pointed at my friend and giggled(my friend is Jamaican). We were both shocked as the cashier dug himself a deeper and deeper hole. This is something we didn’t expect and were made to feel unwelcome. At that point we decided it was an honest mistake and didn’t want it to spoil our day. so we sat down and were told our drinks would be brought over to us. we waited around 15 minutes for our drinks were brought over to us and the coffee shop was very quiet at this point. The waitress finally came over and placed a cup of coffee on the table and a spoon on the tables surface which was unclean. I found service terrible the way the coffee was presented was poor it needed a saucer. Also the latte was’t extra hot it was luke warm and they had forgotten to add in the caramel shot. We weren’t happy so we just left, don’t let the décor and trendy feel fool you! This place needs to work on the service. i won’t be going back.

I’ve been looking for a café to try within walking distance of where I live. Moseley seems to have quite a few. But I decided Cafephilia was more my style. It reminds me of the hipster cafés back home in the states. The man behind the counter was extremely friendly. He even offered me a taste of some Spanish cheese to try when I was unsure of the name. Places like that always impress me. I felt very much at home. The café was rather small, but I had no trouble finding a place to sit by the front windows. The tables are decorated with quirky décor. Mine had a glass coke bottle as a vase complete with flower! Now I have an obsession with tea served in cute little tea pots. I saw they had this, so I ordered a 2 cup pot of Earl Grey. Since it was also lunch time I ordered a toastie with tuna and cheddar. The sandwich took a bit longer than I expected, but it was one great sandwich. I struggled with the wifi. It did say I was connected, but couldn’t get on Unilocal.Maybe it was just my phone. I sat there for at least an hour just people watching. There were dogs inside which was strange. but then again I am not in America anymore. I grabbed a chai latte to go and was not disappointed. It was sweet, perfect and only £2.40(which seems reasonable to me). I will definitely be back to Cafephilia. Hopefully with an independent Birmingham card in hand! It’s a great spot to meet up with friends or just to kick back and relax.

Cafephilia is a fantastic looking café, located in the village of Moseley. Its hard not to be drawn in by the clean, smart frontage and corner location, and inside reflects the exterior stylings perfectly. Tastefully distressed tables with industrial chic vibe, with mismatched vintage chairs are littered around the place, resulting in a good amount of seating given the size of the place. We visited on a Sunday afternoon at about 16:00. Having tried once before we were pleased to find a table for two free, right at the back of the café. Independent Birmingham card in hand, we ordered 2 flat whites which came to a total of £3.60 with the 10% discount, not too shabby at all. The staff were friendly and helpful, a common theme in a lot of the Birmingham independents these days thankfully! Unfortunately they had only 1 suitable cup available, so I had my drink served in a take-out cup. We were also informed that only semi-skimmed milk was available. The coffee itself was perfectly fine, nothing to write home about, but then the paper cup probably didn’t help the experience. All in all, the whole experience was a good one, and I would probably head back here again as I love the cool relaxed atmosphere inside, however I thought it a little disappointing having just 1 cup left and only one milk option available. These are simple things that shouldn’t really happen, especially with a supermarket a few doors down!

Located Alcester Road, Moseley Village. Beautiful café with large windows. America style. Was meeting Victoria for lunch. The place we had planned to go did not open till later. So Cafefilia it was. I had walked past this café a lot and never thought about going in. How stupid I feel now We both orderd chicken panini. Pick what bread you want from the few types they have at the front. It’s made to order not ready made from fridge and just warm up panini/sandwhich They have cakes too, and me seeing chocolate cake I had to get a slice. It was so good. It’s one of the best I’ve had. Finished it all. Bad idea when you have a big panini on the way. I knew I wasn’t going to finish panini but it showed up and was a lot bigger than I expected. Panini was amazing, lots of fillings that some chicken were falling off. I could not finish though. I went back for cup of tea and that slice of cake recently. I’m a fan of this lovely café. Glad Victoria picked this place. Free wi-fi, great panoramic view of Moseley Village, slice of cake and tea. What more do you want? Get yourself down to this place.

This place defiantly deserves more than one review! We have driven past Cafephilia countless times and I have always wondered if it was as cute on the inside as it was on the outside. I can now answer myself a resounding Yes. So… Cafephilia. Located on the corner of Woodbridge Road(Junction of Alcester Road — the main road in Moseley) is easy to spot as you come into the area from the City Centre. With it’s high class American Diner exterior, I really didn’t know what to expect from my first visit and eagerly awaited a chance to visit. A day in Moseley provided me with a good excuse to pop down and give it a go. I had arranged to meet Unilocal Elite Squad member Mohamade in Moseley for Lunch. Unfortunately(or fortunately maybe?) the particular venue we had originally chosen wasn’t opening until 4pm, so I suggested Cafephilia as a replacement venue. As soon as I walked in I knew we had made the right choice. With it’s sleek industrial design and pop art prints on the wall, this place is the definition of cool. Before my lunch partner had turned up, I decided to grab a drink. After being a bit«coffeed out» in the morning, I thought a nice refreshing peppermint tea would make a great accompaniment to a hot day. I wasn’t wrong! I popped up to the counter and was greeted by a big smile and a welcome before my order was taken. Once everything was settled, I popped back down and waited for my tea to be served. The teapot was super cute. Mismatched in just the right way, the slightly kitsch presentation very much reflected the aesthetic that this venue is obviously trying to create. Once Mr M had arrived we ordered a couple of panini’s as a light lunch option to go with our drinks. A panini here is NOT a light lunch option. Think of a thick, freshly baked delicious focaccia loaded with stacks of spicy and delicious jerk chicken and you have«The Woodbridge». Coming in at just under £4, it was a total bargain for such a huge and tasty lunch. Between the great service, the delicious food and the vast(and not too pricey) drinks options; Cafephilia is a hit. I might have just found a regular office space when I end up this side of town in future.

An addition to Birmingham’s growing independent coffee shops. Small, chic and a nice addition to Moseley Village I visited Cafephilia on a relaxing hot sunny Friday afternoon. My usual questions followed ‘do you have decaf tea and skimmed milk?‘ Pleased to say the answer was yes — sold! I sat and read whilst enjoying afternoon tea and cake. My hummingbird was deliciously moist and flavoursome and my tea hit the spot ‘I love a cuppa’ :-) My seat was right next to a plug socket so great for laptop use, free wifi is available. There is a choice of sandwiches, panini’s, toast and light bites. The toilet is clean and lightly decorated. There is a baby changing table in there too and Cafephilia actively welcome babies/families.
