You know that scene in 500 Days of Summer? The scene where Zooey and Joseph go to Ikea and it is all sweet and romantic and they recreate a «perfect» life within the various room sets? Question: why would you do that Ikea when you could do it at somewhere like And So To Bed? If I was going to have a fantasy life, it would involve a £5,000.00 gilted four poster with tapestry drapes, rather than a Oppdal flatpack bed with storage. And So To Bed, is, as the name suggests, a bed shop. But these aren’t just any old bed. These are aspirational beds, as I discovered when I visited looking to buy a new bed. I left with lots of inspiration and a craving to win the lottery. The Birmingham showroom is in Quinton, handily next door to Laura Ashley Home. There is dedicated off-road parking in front of the show room. It is stunning — with no corners cut when it comes to the displays. Staff are as helpful, as you’d expect when considering the prices. They also offer bespoke bed design and build services. But that probably costs more than the apartment I am currently sitting in.
