We came here for a set meal for 2 and we were in for a real treat. The set meal for 2 contains: Papadoms with chutney dips. Sheek Kebab and Onion Bhajee Chicken Tikka Masala Meat Jalfrezi Sag Aloo Peas Pilau Rice Nan Barfi Kulfi and Coffee. I like set meals at indecisisive times, and this was a feat fit for a king. I admittedly had this delivered because the car was broken and I couldn’t drive down. It came hot and fresh and it was simply delicious. All of it. Every last piece!

Before I moved within crawling distance of the balti triangle, Akash was my regular for Indian food. I still like to pop in when I am visiting friends on that side of town. The food is consistently good, and has been for years. They even used to make a dish especially for my dear old mom which was outrageously hot and spicy. As a nipper I would opt for the kormas and tikkas(my delicate young palette couldn’t handle anything hotter) and as I got older and trained my tongue and my gulliver to accept more fire I would go for the hotter end of the menu and all of the dishes were good, proving the Akash can cater for all tastes. It’s pretty small but the food is delivered fast(both to your table if you are eating in or to your door if you have delivery). The décor is standard Indian restaurant and the staff are polite and friendly. It might not compare to some of the places over the B12B13 side of Birmingham but if you over the Stirchley/Cotteridge/Bournville side of town Akash is definitely one to check out.

Birmingham is well known for it’s curry house culture and Akaash is as good an example of that. Situated miles away from the famous«curry triangle», Akaash is a smartly presented Indian restaurant that also does takeaway, with the kind of food that will delight all but the most fussy curry enthusiast(some even say it’s the best curry they’ve had in Birmingham, but perhaps that’s too big a subject to debate here). It seems to be able to tick all the boxes with good service, cheap prices, generous portions and keen, polite service. It seems fair to say it’s one of the best curry houses this side of Birmingham. The only possible criticsim I can think of is that there’s no parking spaces, so drivers may want to think about taking a taxi to avoid any unneccesary stress. Ignore at your peril, or only if you’ve tried Indian food previously and have decided that it absolutely isn’t for you.

I cannot believe the reviews some of you people have given. I went there last night because of the comments made here. My faith in humanity is slipping away. It has to quite honestly the worst curry place ever. Everything was bright pink including one of the yogurt dips, which tasted of nothing. Raw white onion badly chopped was the salad. The tandoori meat just vile; chewy, salty and bright pink. The waiters seemed a little out of it. Even when I complained at the food they just kind of went well that’s what it’s meant to be like!!! I’m sure every authentic indian eatery would be turning in their hypothetical graves. I would have quite happily done a runner given half the chance. I cannot believe I paid for such rubbish. If this is meant to be one of the best on the Pershore Road I’m thinking how tragic. Try Jyoti on the Stratford road, or Lasans if you want to push the boat out. But for all that is sacred and holy DONOT spend a penny in this place. E

I’ve only recently moved to Stirchley and have made a start at trying all of the local curry houses. This is my third and the food was brilliant. It’s smaller than some of the others but this means that you get much better service– and hot poppadoms! I think this one’s going to be hard to beat…

this is a very small but cosy balti restaurant in stirchley. the interior is well decorated but can feel cramped when it gets busy — which it does! parking is outside on the street although you may haveto park quite a way from the restaurant. the food was really tasty — we asked for one balti tobe mild and it was lovely. the service was quick and the waiters were very friendly. the price was what we expected, cheap but definately good value for money because of the quality of the food
