I often wonder if Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant got their inspiration for The Office from shopping at this branch of Ryman. An office supply store that sells everything from staplers and paperclips to huge boxes of paper, it’s run by friendly staff that seem to have a particularly dry sense of humour. When I asked if they had any marker pens and sharpies, one simply raised their eyebrows in amusement then pointed me in their direction of their ‘Writing Instruments’.
If only they sold rubbers with the catch-​phrase ‘Are you ‘avin a laugh?’
