Decent night out on the Wirral. Most of the staff are great and friendly. The prices are decent and most people are friendly. More for the alternative scene and there is a ‘no tracksuits’ code(great rule) but it should be a proper laugh for anyone.

Stayed overnight here a few years ago when my Friends band I-Remain played there. I thought it was a really nice venue with some really friendly folk there…

I decided to travel across with water, well under it on a train, to go and see a friends band at Revolver. The club has previously been known as Hotel California, and Hex before that. I had only been here once before when it was Hex and that was some years ago. As I was taking photos for the band, me and a friend were on the guest list. The lady at the box office greeted us warmly, confirmed we were OK to go in free, advised the bouncers of this, who also welcomed us and we went inside. The club is quite dark inside, but this is normal for a rock club. The bar was quite small but the staff were very friendly and advised us that a double Jäger Bomb was only £2.95, which is excellent value. Each time we went back to the bar the staff remembered what we were drinking and served us promptly. For a while we sat on the sturdy chairs and tables near the bar before moving to a booth near the stage. There were also booths near the bar but these were occupied. The stage in Revolver is of a decent size. It is raised up which gives you an excellent view of the band. The booths at the side are an excellent place to sit and look across at the bands, and in my case an excellent place to take photos. The sound was very good, the sound engineers had the levels spot on throughout the gig. There is a large outdoor area at revolver which is essential a big marquee that is filled with picnic tables and also has a dance floor on the stage at the far end. There is music playing in there and it’s an excellent place to get some air and relax. The other side of the club looks a bit like a pub, with comfy seating and pool tables. It’s a great place to chill out and chat with friends. The toilets are pretty cramped and quite dark, but they seemed to be clean and well stocked with loo roll. I really enjoyed my night at Revolver. I usually go to a much bigger rock club in the city centre, but there were definitely some features of revolver which stood out for me and I wish the club I go to had these features, such as the outdoor area.
