Like any other Wetherspoons, this bar offers good cheap food, cheap drinks, a wide variety of cheap cocktails and, well, just cheap stuff. All round. The location is pretty good, it’s right in front of the bus stop to Dartford and Bluewater and 30 seconds from the bus stop to take you London-bound, so you can drink right up until the last second if you fancy playing a game of chicken with your friends. What I don’t like about this pub though, is the bouncers. I get that of an evening, people may flock to the town centre to have a drink. I do not, however, think it’s necessary to have bouncers on the door I. Ding everyone from 5:30pm onwards. After many weekdays wondering why you’d bother hiring bouncers for a small town pub, I went on a weekend and my questions were answered wholly and completely. It. Is. Packed. Every available space is filled with bodies and the bar is four rows deep. It’s so busy that it even beats the student bat at university the day after the student loans come in. After midnight you get a couple of unsavories starting fights in the town centre and the police have to be called(luckily it’s 30 seconds from the pub entrance) but this doesn’t happen often. Just often enough to justify bouncers, it seems. A bit offputting if I’m honest. Still, for a quiet weekday drink or a cheap place to eat and catch up with friends, it’s deal.

Seems like a nice place, I’ve been here a few times to meet with friends. The food is standard weather spoons grub so it’s good and you know what you’re getting :-) The drinks are cheap and the bar is extensive so they can make pretty much whatever you want. I drank the jugs of cocktails because they were a bargain and tasted great. I’d recommend them completely. Overall it’s a good place — shut a little early IMO but that’s probably not down to them.

This is Bexleyheath’s local JD Wetherspoon’s and Lloyds bar. The Furze Wren is next to TK Maxx located within market place and is within easy access to everything in Bexleyheath. I rather like this pub, it is a little dark inside but I find this is often the case with most Wetherspoon’s. The food is good which is such a positive aspect because the food from Wetherspoon’s is usually hit or miss, it’s like taking a gamble! This is one of my favourite Wetherspoon’s, I have been to many around the UK and this one hardly ever gets it wrong.

The Furze Wren being a Weatherspoon Pub has cheap drinks, the atmosphere is good, has a TV, it can get a bit loud. The food is fantastic value for money, the breakfast is VERYGOOD. its a good place to socialise, its also good if you want a cheap meal & drink. Décor is good, its comfortable, although service could be faster, its polite and on time. Highly Recommended

The Furze Wren was formally known as Lloyds No 1 Bar but a couple of years back underwent a refurbishment. I was never a fan of the original Lloyds and pretty much had to be physically dragged there by friends. I’m sad to say that the only changes to the place have been physical. Being a Weatherspoons, it is a case of cheap drinks all round. Early evenings and midweek this can be quite a good place to socialise. But at the weekends it packs out to the point where it becomes unenjoyable. there are a lot of people clambering for the bar staff’s attention and it took me ages to get served at the bar. A lot of people appear to go to The Furze Wren to get as drunk as possible for as cheap as possible. Of course this means that you can encounter a number of unpleasant characters. Don’t get me wrong, the majority of people are there to keep themselves to themselves and to have a good time, but it is worth keeping your wits about you and be prepared to be knocked into a lot if you are there during these busy periods. As far as food and drink quality goes, it is Weatherpoons’ standard which means good value and good quality. The Furze Wren is good for a midweek drink and socialising with friends. As for weekends, I would suggest only going there if you can tolerate nightclub style environments(ie, crowded and loud). Being based in Bexleyheath Broadway makes it a good place for lunch or a break from shopping/work. Pretty much every bus route that goes through Bexleyheath stops within a few hundred yards of it although some buses are subject to diversions on Friday/Saturday nights and during other busy periods. Parking is available outside Sainsbury’s around the corner.
