Take me down please… The ground floor is a relatively new place in the Belmont Village. Situated on the ground floor of the Christian Fellowship Church this eatery is close to other amenities such as the Strand Cinema with 2ATMS within walking distance Here’s the good — the food is actually very good with decent ingredients and all prepared fresh in front of your eyes. That’s a big plus as most coffee places opt for the quick option. I had a custom toastie(Cheese, Ham, Tomato & Red Onion) and it was great. Most cafes sandwich toasties between two hot plates and reduce the bread to a slither of itself. Well done. You can also amass loyalty stamps and redeem these after your 10th visit. So here’s where I had my issue — the menu is a folded piece of brown paper that is stacked on the table. I’m unsure if it’s totally sanitary as there is no way of wiping these down. While we are on the menu, it’s limited for choice. You get sandwiches or a cooked breakfast. That’s about it. The service was a real let down also — the waiter arrived at our table to take our order flicking a pen in his hand, but had no paper. This really annoys me! He took the order then repeated it back to us completely wrong! Twice we explained to him what we wanted then he finally returned with a notepad and again asked us to repeat the order. I find this very lazy and ultimately leads to poor service. You have to pay at the counter for your bill, they don’t bring it to you. It’s the small things that make the difference. Overall the food is decent, but the service sucks…

Located under and tied to the CFC Church on the Belmont Road, this high-spec space has been cramming them in since it’s opening last year. As I’m a bit of a regular at other Belmont Road coffee-pushers it has taken me a while to get in, but thought I’d give it a try with my bun-lovin chum. As usual it was pretty busy, and I was excited to see what it was that is making it so popular. We were greeted at the door and shown to the available seats, ordering coffee and cake. The cake was there in a flash, but I think they were growing and grinding the coffee themselves the coffees took so long. Quality wise, the drinks were grand and the cake dry. Yes, the place has a bit of a buzz, but the peeps are quite obviously not there for the produce, and it was clear that a lot of the patrons were parishioners. Fair enough, they want to support the business of the church, but if you are bopping round Belmont, you’ll get much better buns for your buck elsewhere.
