A well dressed window will always grab my eye, and if involves fancy foodstuffs without a doubt it’ll drag me in, which is why I found myself in a hamper shop(random). OK, so it isn’t just a hamper shop, it’s more a little fancy food emporium that you can then put in a basket with straw, or, in my case, just buy some chocolate covered Yellowman(that’s honeycomb to the non-locals) and hoof it into you. Yum. They have also opened a tea shop upstairs in conjunction with SUKI tea, but don’t bother asking for coffee, if you want that there’s a Costa two doors up. This is for serious tea folk. Design-wise you can tell before you even walk in that this is not some sort of discount store, but everyone deserves an artisan treat now and again, and I need to try the fudge…

Located opposite the Kitchen Bar by the exit of Victoria Square The Food and Wine Company is a great place to pick up a gift for the tea connoisseur in your life, let’s face it everyone knows someone who is mad about tea, actually in Belfast everyone is mad about tea. This isn’t the type of shop you pop in to get your Punjana or Tetley teas, it’s a specialist. This means that all the tea is ethically sourced and fair trade. You can even build yourself a tea hamper if you can’t pick a winner. The Food and Wine company don’t only do tea as the name suggests, they also have a chocolates, cheeses and specialty alcoholic beverages but to name a few. I would suggest you bring your credit card if you’re hoping to make a purchase as with all speciality items they do not come cheap. But as the old saying goes you get what you pay for and you certainly won’t be disappointed with what you get.
