The Chip Company comes in handy whenever I have one of those«gimme anything fried» days. I can feel my cholesterol level rising just by writing this review :)). Best chips in the botanic area and great offers e.g. their lunch deal of 2 piece chicken/sausages/burger plus chips, a dip and a canned drink for £3 is a bargain. Service is quite quick due to the ticket system but staff is not particularly pleasant. I’m only giving 3 stars to be fair with other places with more services offered and better facilities eg a seating area which the Chip Co does not have.

I have visited twice, and twice the wrong order or some sort of error… not the best of places in terms of service either! The only saving grace… the chips are to die for :)

The Chip Company in Botanic Avenue serve the nicest chips in Belfast. The chip shop has an order point and a collect point(just like Argos) so you’ll be in and out with your chips in no time. They have a great £3 lunch meal: choice of burger, chicken gougons, battered sausage, pastie etc with chips, a dip and a can of juice. Great deal — perfect size for lunch.

I think this is one of the best chip shops in Belfast — absolutely love the cheesy Mayo chips from The Chip Company. Amazing grub. It is a busy take away though so sometimes there’s a bit of a wait — but they do have a good ticketing system and just call out your order number when your orders ready. I’ve always found the staff pleasant too.

We’ve ordered food a couple of times from the Chip Company. It’s handy if you want ‘chippy’ food without having to leave the house to get it! They offer all the usual chip shop items and various deals. One deal that looks good for a family or a group is the ‘High Five Family Feast’ which consists of 5 chicken goujons, 5 nuggets, 5 pasties, 5 sausages, 5 onion rings, 5 scallops, as well as chips, a bottle of drink, and a tub of sauce, all for £19.95. Not a bad deal! They also do lunch deals for £3, and breakfast deals too. Any of the food we had was tasty and I would order again. The takeaway also has long opening hours, until 2.30am seven nights a week, so will also appeal to those passing by who are hungry after a night out.

Just to start off. The single star rating is gained for the food and only that. The missing four are simply down to service. I would also like to mention that I have tried and tried again with this place but finally had to make my thoughts and experiences known to anyone else. My major problem with this place is its staff. From the many times I have been in here there has always been some sort of cheekiness put forward. It all started back in September when I first went in here. I had taken along with me, my Ylink card from Translink which entitled(and I use that word loosely) me to 15% off my bill in here any time. Does it hell. The first time I requested this the girl taking the order looked dumbfounded that I had asked for a discount(one that they advertise) and called her superior over who very sternly let me know they don’t accept it. I tried to argue but then considered that id prefer not have anything done to my food. This happened many times after until the worst time I had experienced in here back around January when again, I requested the discount, that they advertise and had to wait while one of the staff made a phone call directly in front of me to who I assume was the boss more or less having an argument about giving me the discount, which again, they advertise — still. This time though I was granted it and frightfully so. I continued to get the discount for a month or two until today. When I asked to get the discount the woman taking the order said, and this is the best part, are you paying for it? What she was implying was that due to my girlfriend paying for the order we couldn’t avail of the discount as the Ylink was in my name. What sort of idea is that? If I went in to Tesco would I not be allowed to use someone else club card if I were paying? Yes I would be, and trust me I know. In general this place does decent food(I’d recommend the goujons), however they are terribly let down by their ignorant staff who seem to think that by allowing a customer to avail of a 15% discount, which their boss has advertised with Translink that they will get slightly less in their next pay packet. To sum it up, today was my last meal in the chip co.
