I have eaten in this restaurant many times. The food is excellent quality. Closely followed by the service. They specialise in seafood though you can eat your way through their entire menu and be suitably impressed. My preference is to be seated upstairs, the views are better but the food is the star of the show. Reasonably priced for the standard and quality of food on offer. Their curry roast monkfish with coconut rice is excellent.

Best seafood in Belfast! They do other dishes as well, lamb, duck, beef etc and it is always fantastic and beautifully presented! Staff are very attentive but not annoying. Average dinner menu meal is £18 and totally worth it. They also do a great lunch deal for £20, 3 courses. Love this place!

Tedford’s, right across from«Nuala with the Hula», a large statue on the river, is a cozy upscale restaurant that focuses on steak and seafood. The ambiance is cozy, upscale, and yet makes for a nice place to hang out with friends. Go for the pork belly which comes as a big chunk of meat, perfectly seared and chewy. The monkfish was the standout of the night. I was congratulated for my menu prowess with a «best lineup of the night» comment, but I think the monkfish was the MVP. The lobster roll was crispy, buttery but not watery, and substantial without being overly fishy. The curry sauce that accompanied the dish, I could have eaten alone or just with the rice though the thick cut and well seasoned fish made it all the better. All around the mulberry bush, the monkfish was the best I’ve had. Dessert was this assortment of sweets that put together I think looks like a muppet’s head. The peanut butter ice cream was delicious with a great balance of sweet and slight salty savoryness. The custardy chocolate was also excellent and on the dark side which offset the sweetness of the ice cream. The crispy biscuits provided a texture difference and cut through the sweetness to keep it from getting cloying. The service was a bit aloof though. Our waiter over-poured prosecco to overfill the glass, spilled wine on the table, and nearly knocked out someone with a plate. o the owner or employees.

This is a cute, narrow little restaurant overlooking the river and has been a pre-Waterfront favourite with us for years. While, understandably due to location and maritime history they do have a lot of fish on the menu(which I don’t eat) they always have such a good selection of non-fishy dishes I’m happy to come. On my last visit I started with the goats cheese followed by the lamb, and was having such a lovely time I was gutted we had to leave for the theatre! Because it is so small space can be a little tight, so if you are looking for private chats this may not be the place for you. If you just want good food though, you’re laughing.

All our friends tried to get into this restaurant all week, but were turned away because they didn’t have reservations. We went right at 5pm when it opened and got seated. We were the only people there for the next hour or more. They had a pre-fix menu for $ 22 each for three courses. A great price if only the dollar was stronger! The goat cheese beignets were yummy. I then had the lamb and it was fantastic. My husband had fish and loved it, and especially loved the baked beans with chorizo sausage in it. For dessert, I had the the mango cheesecake and my husband had a chocolate torte. Both were presented beautifully and tasted every bit as good as they looked. The restaurant is somewhat contemporary inside. They did turn some people away at the door because they had many reservations starting at 7, so I would definitely recommend calling ahead unless you want to hang out at the front door till they open like we did!

Outstanding food! We went in a group and all starters, mains and desserts came out amazingly, especially the fish. Very fresh and local and cooked to perfection, cod on a bed of sweet chorizo and bean cassoulet, topped with samphire. Lovely. It’s not a five-star review as the service was a little slack at times, and as previously said the décor is a little plain and there’s not loads of atmosphere, but the food is worth 5 stars!

We were keen to try Tedfords for some time, but delayed due to hearing increasingly missed reviews from frieds and colleagues, but we couldn’t have been more pleased with everything from the service to the quality of food on offer on their sumptuous menu. We were warmly greeted on arrival and throughout our sitting, the service we received was second to none. The food was wonderful in every way, portions were well presented, adequately sized and cooked to perfection. I had the curried roast monkfish, and had I not been in a respectable restaurant, I could quite frankly have licked the plate, it was that good! The restaurant offers a good wine list, with a good price range to suit all pockets. Tedford’s also offer a pre-theatre menu offers exceptionally good value for money and is worth checking out(offered between 17:00 and 18:30) which is perfect if you prefer an earlier evening meal.

I had to add a quick update here because we went back more recently for our wedding anniversary. We were dealt with so well and had the nicest meal you could hope for to celebrate our big day. I had the goats cheese starter and he had beef satay rolls, then I had the mushroom risotto and of course he had the steak again. They brought us downstairs for a drink first, where I hadn’t been before — and being so low down(most likely under sea level) in the building actually felt a little like being on a ship — what with the little porthole touches around the place. The food, service, and all round experience was again, fantastic.

I tend to mentally split restaurants into 2 categories — child friendly family venues and proper night out grown up spots. Tedfords definitely falls into the second category. I went for the first time a couple of weeks ago and really badly want to go back asap. The interior is just the kind I love, all starched linen tablecloths and napkins. The atmosphere however is not starched, well not at our table anyway and no-one complained so it must be the kind of place you don’t have to whisper. Tedfords is famous as a seafood restaurant which fits with its location right down at the water in Belfast. I had smoked salmon, crab mayo and quail egg. Without the quail egg. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ll know that eggs make me hurl. The good news is that the waiter didn’t huff or puff of look as if he felt sorry for me. The other good news is that the salmon was fab — delicate and beautifully flavoured. I felt obliged to have fish again for main course and boy was I glad. On of my group had recommended the curried monkfish and I now do too. It was sublime — the meaty fish was matched brilliantly by the creamy sauce and fragrant coconut rice. I was all full up with no room for desert but managed 2 spoons of the husband’s chocolate soufflé with fresh(huge) strawberries. Bliss. Tedford’s is certainly not cheap but for a special night out as a couple or with friends, it is my new must go to.

I would have liked to have given Tedfords a higher rating as the food is really excellent but unfortunately the service and atmosphere let them down. A small, slightly clinical main dining room with music that was almost non-existent resulted in a subdued atmosphere. Sides that didn’t appear when ordered and then came just as we were finishing were a disappointing note to some truly great food. And given that the bill was relatively expensive it seemed odd to take so long to flag the staff’s attention when we wished to pay. Genuinely great food but could do so much better.
