Good coffee, friendly service and free WiFi. Located in a very cosy spot overlooking the main street. Good to catch breath and do some people watching.

I really don’t like Starbucks. I think that they basically sell the idea that sitting drinking coffee is good and you will be a cool person if about with a lap top and talk about the music that other people with actual taste in that stuff have told you is good. The coffee itself is ok I guess, and you can get a pretty nice cuppa. The other stuff, ie. the cookies and muffins etc are pretty tasty but you can’t really get away from the fact that this is consumer capitalism at its best and worst. Basically, if I never go to Starbucks again I don’t think I would be sad in anyway.

As far as I’m aware this was the first store launched in Northern Ireland ans has since spawned a multitude of its demon babies. Starbucks has engraved this image in our conciousness that they will make the world right — the represent success, the capitalist machine moving in the right direction, globalisation, Americanism and in general that feeling like you’re part of something. I’m a cynical person at the very best of times and I’ve no problem with the scale in which Starbucks have grown at, I do not like however this thinly veiled niceness and fair-trade this and that. If you are spending over £3 for a ‘coffee’ your head needs serious attention, and I will say that if you are one of those people(and you know who you are) who go in and order a triple-berry cinammon blah blah blah(Orange Mocha Frappachinos may have been a satirical take on the growing madness in the bo-ho coffee seen but that ridiculously has been and gone) go and have a coke or a tea or a hot chocolate instead, coffee obviously isn’t for you.

You know the story with Stabucks surely, they’re a mega-rich global force to be reckoned with that suck your soul out through a coffee cup, non? Oh and they’re also tapping into the youth culture by having artists like Allanis Morrisette and Paul McCartney selling their albums through them. What you upto Macca?! Sort it out! Anyway I don’t really like Starbucks. Sandwich wise, they offer small over-priced crappy pre-packaged stuff which won’t fill you at all. I’m not a massive coffee fan either, it just makes me jittery, so I couldn’t be bothered trying out their 27 different variations. This isn’t the best located store either. I find them unfriendly and certainly not a place I could chill out in. Just a rip off really.

I know what you’re thinking, there’s that many Starbucks spread around the country which all sell the same drinks and snacks, so why do I need to review this one in if they are all the same. Well this one in Castlecourt is perfectly located for all of you who get sore feet from shopping all day. It has a superb view of the city of Belfast, overlooking the main street. Personally I love coming to this Starbucks and getting a lovely hot cup of tea when it is bitterly cold outside and you’re overlooking all the shoppers all wrapped up. It is absolutely lovely around Christmas time when you can see the white frost on the ground and occasionally the snow falling(though this is much more common in June because weather in Northern Ireland never works the way it should). The coffee and snacks are the same as all other branches of Starbucks but purely for the view and ambience of this branch I’d recommend it over the others any day.

Well for starters I don’t really like Starbucks because I don’t think that it has much character or even taste very good. However they do tend to have nice shops in nice locations and therefore I feel I have to give credit were credit is due. This Starbucks is in a very nice location in Castle Court is on the first floor at the tip of the building looking out onto the entrance and the street. A perfect place to watch the world go by. The times I have been to this Starbucks I have waited so long to get served. So I don’t think I will be rushing back.

Starbucks! Bah! Well in honesty, I don’t mind em to much and have drank in this one a few times. This store is oddly shaped in that they have basically took a part of the walk way, repainted the floor, added chairs and placed a sign in front of it. The counter, which floats in the middle of all this would seem like a very claustrophobic to me if I worked there. Starbucks deals with the rainforest alliance for its coffee, which might seem like a good thing, but they have came under criticism in the past. But their little frog makes everyone think it’s a lovely responsible place to drink. On a less political note, they do have some cracking sandwiches that I love to munch on whilst enjoying my ethical coffee…

Mmmm. mocha with a big layer of cream on top sprinkled with chocolate power, cinnamon or both. Your choice, as you can help yourself to all those powders on the counter. Occasional consumption of that type is really the only reason for going to Starbucks. It’s a last resort when you’re too exhausted with Castle Court or whereever to think about going anywhere else. Otherwise, it’s noisy, expensive and too global for my liking. The purple plush sofas may be comfortable but the coffee tends to be cold. Sometimes, just sometimes, though Starbucks fills a gap.

I am just not a fan of Starbucks. I know its just about the biggest coffee house chain in the entire universe but I am not convinced. Now on alot of levels they have got it spot on, great locations, recognisable logo, clean stores, well decorated, nice uniform, tasty looking buns and cakes… well that’s just it, they aren’t all that tasty. And neither is the coffee for that matter and to be honest that’s why you go to Starbucks. for coffee, Yes the atmosphere has to be great, and you like a comfortable seat etc etc, but when it all boils down to the taste of the coffee these guys fall a bit short I have to say. But hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and Starbucks is always busy wherever you go, but they have yet to convince me I am afraid.

I love starbucks and Belfast was really in need of this place when it opened however now with so many other options this store seems small craped and slow the ques are always huge. However the coffee does still taste lovely.

i love starbucks coffee but have to say this isn’t my favourite branch. There is usually always a queue and the staff seem so slow. Having said that its the best place for a coffee while you’re shopping in castle court, and even better if you grab a table by the window. The caramel machiatos are so lovely though they make the wait worthwhile.

This store is ALWAYS busy and I’ve always had to stand in a queue for at least 5 minutes. They seem to sell out of caramel squares quite quickly and the staff are hurried and distracted as they are so busy. The hot choc is still yummy and caramel squares are the best ever!

Soooo this starbucks sucks. Almost always a queue and when there isn’t it’s because they are sold out of practically everything except standard coffee(ie. no mochas, no caramel lattes etc.) There are very few comfy seats and it’s noisy. but as it’s starbucks i have to give some stars cause welli love starbucks.
