Popped into Shed for a quick lunch and had the Pakora burger with sweet potato fries. It was fantastic. Great presentation and taste! Looking forward to returning for dinner soon with a few friends:)

Over the last year Shed restaurant has gone from strength to strength, with every dish I’ve sampled being delicious. They are more than deserving of 5 stars. I also love the separate dedicated Vegetarian menu which is extensive and changes regularly. Yesterday(09.02.2016) I visited and ordered a beetroot and fig tartlet, while my dining companion ordered Vegetarian shepherds pie. All scrumptious and perfectly complimented by sides of green veg and chunky chips. Wine in Shed has always been good, however yesterday they informed us they are working with a new supplier. The quality of wine has definitely gone up a notch. Our Pinot Grigio was fabulous — it’s amazing how a great bottle of wine can really make a dining experience! Over time Shed has become a firm favourite of mine. It’s a comfortable and modern place to while away quality time with friends or family over lazy lunches or dinners. A visit to this restaurant is always a truly relaxing experience and I find the vibe leisurely and warm. Service is delightful and although it’s a tiny restaurant, the open kitchen provides an fascinating focal point for watching the Chefs at work. Would highly recommend.

4 stars for being a wee bit hit and miss — I’ve had absolutely wonderful meals here and also food that was slightly disappointing for the price. Lovely staff and the open kitchen is fantastic adding to a lively buzz for such a small space. One minor discomfort though is that the tables are super close together meaning you won’t be having any deep and meaningful personal conversations when the place is busy :-)

I’m definitely a fan of Shed, even though I was a little disappointed in last nights main. Its a great wee spot with a lot of atmosphere and always busy. The pre-theatre menu is good value at 2 courses for £15, but I think they would be better off throwing a glass of wine into it too just to make it VERY good value. The starter was amazing I had charred, chick pea vegetables with spiced Feta. It was delicious. We were a little let down as they didn’t have any of the pinot grigio left that we ordered and our second choice was a rather sharp wine that I wasn’t fond off. The main was tasty, but as we ordered off the pre-theatre selection which is a little limited(Especially if you want a vegetarian main) I ended up with fish goujons. It was nice but a little more ‘posh fish and chip shop’ than ‘contemporary restaurant’ which is what I was looking for. As I say, I am a fan of the place as I have eaten there before a few times and always had a good experience. So definitely 4 stars, I’m chalking last night down to me being in a fussy mood, and disappointed about the wine!

The Ormeau Road is always a hive of activity so a meal in Shed is a welcome rest from the madness. It is pretty small, so don’t bother if you want to discuss the intimate details of your love life, but for a good feed and a catchup with the girls, it hits the spot. The menu isn’t ground-breaking, but hearty, and I’ve lost count of the times I’ve gone for their burger, yum. Another bonus is you can get a glass of wine for less than a fiver, a rarity in Belfast these days. Because it is so compact, you would be better off booking, and the staff are lovely. It is a great spot to fuel you before heading across to The Errigle, if you are easily led. ;-)

Pretty solid if slightly spendy food. I had beef bourguignon, which was succulent and lovely with a big scoop of creamy mash in the centre. Nice, but not amazing — the bacon was a bit on the underdone side though the beef was falling-apart tender. My colleague had the risotto as a main — not stodgy & decent. There’s a nice wine list as well. Extra friendly service & this place definitely sets itself apart from some of the other eateries along the Ormeau Road, though it doesn’t quite make the(high bar) cut to the fourth star. Needs something special for that. A decent range, as well, of reasonably-priced wines, though let down by a really(Heiniken, Peroni) lackluster beer selection. Beer is good with(British) food!
