Nice hotel with full service restaurant. Room amenities include coffee & Nespresso and bathrobes. The rooms are nice sized with a large sitting area. It’s cold and rainy out so I won’t be venturing out of the hotel however Unilocal lists several nice restaurants in the area.

Radisson Blu is a really good, modern hotel. Rooms are understated, luxurious, spacious, clean and bright and a relaxed vibe permeates. The hotel bar serves a good range of wines, although I’ve never dinned in the restaurant so can’t comment on the food. It’s a reasonably priced hotel too. Unfortunately however, I find The Gasworks a strange location. It feels very deserted due to there being so many businesses in the area, thus there’s not much to see or do in the immediate vicinity. Nonetheless, it’s just a short walk to the city centre, nearby Dublin Road and Queen’s University Quarter so there are many places to eat, drink and sightsee close by.

The hotel location isn’t fabulous. It is walking distance from the city centre and Queens University, however the walk is not pleasant. Bit run-down Belfast city streets. It feels as though the hotel was built there with the expectation of more new development locally, which never happened. The rooms are very cosy and pleasant. They definitely have the softest sheets out of my Radisson experiences, and the bathroom has heated floors which I always find to be a really nice touch. Full length mirrors and nice big wardrobes. There isn’t a gym on site however, but the bar and restaurant area is nice. What really drags this review down for me, however, is that last time I arrived for my stay my room reservation had been cancelled. I had arrived there too late apparently — flight delays — and they had given my room away to someone else. Perhaps my expectations are very high as I have a membership status with the company and have never been refused a room before, but they really could have at least called me beforehand. The receptionist was apologetic however, and called around to find me a room at another hotel. But at 10pm at night, travelling by myself and with business meetings the next day, it was really very unfortunate. I now stay at the Park Inn when visiting Belfast.

I stayed in the Radisson last year for one night and was very impressed. I booked a room with a friend who was up showing some paintings in a local art gallery and we got a great deal on a twin room through a discount hotel website. The room was amazing! So sleek and stylish looking, we could hardly believe we’d gotten it for the price we did(approx. £20 each!). The people at reception were very friendly and had my taxi waiting for me the following morning and were very helpful with their wake-up call service. I remember being über impressed by the underfloor heating in the bathroom, so luxurious. I also remember the magnifying mirror, which was surrounded by intense lights and magnified every imperfection on your face so much it made you think you were some sort of hideous monster. Warning to all girls, just don’t look! You will regret it! This hotel is a very handy place to stay, a ten minute walk from town and stunning views at night. Comes highly recommended. Oh yeah and to save time, we ate in the restaurant downstairs. I had the best mushroom risotto I’ve ever tasted. My friend got a veggie pizza which was also delectable. Worth staying in for the food alone!

The bar and food here are great. The staff are knowlegable about drinks and the local area but not over-friendly and they are very polite. Drinks are not as expensive as you would expect for a hotel bar. You may be interested to know that Take That stayed here for their first comeback tour! If it’s good enough for them.

I’d simply recommend this hotel: modern rooms, very clean bathrooms with lovely shower gel from Scotland, smashing beds and a very healthy, varied breakfast. The area is very close to the city centre and you pass an old factory site(The Gasworks) on your way to the shops. (Strangely enough though the other side faces one of the less well-off residential areas of Belfast — being barred by a fence. Looks a bit tragically odd really) The hotel is a bit pricey all right but if you wish to treat yourself or someone else, go ahead and book the SAS.
