Poppo Goblin’s smoothies and juices are delicious plus they make massive, scrumptious salads and sandwiches. The food tastes extremely fresh and healthy. Gets very busy at lunch time.

A nice sandwich place that makes a pretty entertaining lunch time treat for me. It’s pretty handy and is in a part of town that sees it a little out of the way which in itself makes it feel more chilled. Alfred Street doesn’t have the throngs of people streaming up and down it that many other establishments would have sought for their higher footfall. The food is great, tasty, good produce for ingredients and well sized portions. The staff are quick and efficient but above all noticeably more friendly and welcoming than most sandwich shops. The coffee is good too, a pleasant surprise for a place that is a sandwich shop that serves coffee as opposed to a coffee place that has food(like Clements). Nice shop, the only drawback is that as I mentioned it’s a bit out of the way so its not handy to a cash machine and they don’t take cards, so you need to make sure you have cash on you before poppin’ in.

My girlfriend introduced me to this little place with the strange name. Poppo is a small sandwich bar in Belfast, so what makes it stand out from the crowd? Well there are several reasons. First the food. They serve a wide range of the usual soups, salads, and sarnies, but the ingredients are fresh, tasty, and good value. I’m a particular fan of their salad bowls which are heaped full of lovely pasta, couscous, and gorgeous sesame noodles which I love. My girlfriend swears by the baguettes, and they have lots of lovely filings on offer for bagels. They also do a range of very healthy looking smoothies which I am yet to sample. Secondly the staff in this small shop are excellent. Always friendly, chatty, and efficient which is handy as the queue can build quickly due to the limited space inside. Finally the location. As it’s not quite in the centre of town, parking is much easier to come by(although you do have to pay as it’s a ticket area), and so for those of is who have to drive in for lunch it’s extremely handy. All in all a little gem.

Competition among the city centre sandwich bar/lunch takeaways is getting intense and now here’s another place that’s better the last one I was in. Poppogoblins has some lovely fresh fast food on offer. The salad counter has tempting things like couscous, tapenade and fresh pesto and it all looks delicious. There are also juices and smoothies. I homed in on the Iron Boost one which had beetroot, spinach, carrot, ginger and apple in it. That sounds awfully healthy — there are other flavours of course — including apple, orange and 5 A Day, but it tasted good, honestly, and did feel like a boost! I found it a little difficult to read the sandwich list properly on a first visit, there’s so much written up there very small, but I took home a takeway list and there are fantastic sounding things like sesame soy chicken with spicy peanut sauce and no less than six different types of cheese. So I will return to try them out. Another good thing — I like the location, just a little bit away from the centre where there are fewer cafes and lunch spots.

When I first learned to drive, shamefully less than a year ago, I used to drive up to Belfast to work an evening shift at my old job and I would always park nearby this wee café because it was free parking after about 6 and it was always handy. I walked past this place about a million times before I actually headed in and when I did I was extremely happy with what I found. Its a wee, healthy, kinda cool café that has a lovely atmosphere. The seating is great, there is always room but its small enough to allow a little bit of intimacy. The customer service is excellent, with all the staff being friendly and helpful and always willing to help out with any bizarre requests. The food is pretty nice too. I went for a panini and thought it was certainly above average for the price I was paying. All in all a cracking wee place to eat, just away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

A fairly simple but efficient little café with an outrageous name. I mean what where they smoking when they dreamt that one up? You can gorge on their panninis, bagels, sandwiches or have a quick coffee and a scone. The staff are cheery too, but then again you’d have to be to work in a cfae called Poppp Goblin, right?

Poppo Goblin was a place I visited because, honestly, I’m not, not gonna go to a place called Poppo Goblin. This café serves some great food and for next to nothing which is always great! The atmosphere is relaxed and the street outside is often very quiet for the most part making the whole environment really chilled out! Their bagels are awesome and there’s wide range of fillings to choose from. It’s a great little place to chill with a snack or if your like me, relax with a coffee, revelling in the reality that your drinking in a place called Poppo Goblin.

Poppo Goblin is the cheapest, healthiest café around. It’s tiny but comfortable and its’ sandwiches, bagels and melt-in-your-mouth scones more than make up for it. Customer service is fantastic and seating is very cosy. I particularly recommend the paninis and bagels. It’s hard to find a cheap/reasonably priced café serving healthy food in Belfast, so Poppo Goblin is a God send. Perfect for lunch breaks from the office.
